Very happy we went to Planta for celebrating my daughter's birthday. Everything about this place was amazing. All the dishes were exactly how we imagined. Spicy tuna sushi rolls and General D's Cauliflower were our favorite. 1000-layer crispy potatoes is a must.

Very lovely dinner!
My partner and I came to celebrate and we were very happy with the food overall.
The Dan Dan noodles were delicious, a sweet blend of spicy and savory. The poke bowl is worth everything as it incorporates so many of their original non-meat substitutes, such as mushroom chicken, watermelon salmon and caramelized carrot tuna.
The torched and pressed remains the most amazing roll that Planta has, the avocado melts on your tongue and the truffle is smoky. Absolutely delicious.
We personally did not like the matcha cheesecake, even thought we’re normally both huge fans of cheesecake. But this felt like biting straight into butter, very little flavor and too much fat. We can’t recommend it.
The service was also weirdly cold, we were asking for food recommendations but really felt like we were bothering.
We hope for a more professional experience for a future dinner, especially considering the price, but we will come back for the delicious and original dishes.

Food was amazing especially the chkn appetizer and the mushroom udon. I had a Diet Coke which came out of a cute glass bottle (they did not have Coke Zero). The customer service was top notch. The ambience was top tier. We celebrated my mom’s birthday and they came out with a cute matcha cheesecake with a candle on top. Highly recommend for all vegans and non vegans!

One of my all time favorite plant food joints. Always interesting food options and flavor profiles. Fun atmosphere and aesthetically pleasing interior.

For context, I've been to Planta Queen across 5 major cities, a total of at least 50 times in the past few years and I do regret not sharing my rave reviews back when it was still, very clearly, my favorite spot.
My past 3 visits have fully confirmed that the Planta Queen DC location has fallen off tremendously in terms of the welcoming environment it once was. This used to be the place I could count on for incredible service and atmosphere, but the front staff, especially at the reception desk, is almost enough to make you regret ever entering--and sadly, I won't be doing so again. It is very clear in observing the front staff manager, who was the most cold and uninviting of all, why the vibes have declined such from this place that once felt like a delightful little respite from the world, to a catty high school girls locker room with warm backlighting. Tragic.
The lovely visual ambiance remains, but bereft of the once good-natured, humane, friendly reception, it now serves only as a twinkling shell of PQDC's former glory. Luckily, the Chicago location is still decent enough that I may not have to give up my bang bang broccoli forever. Just very unfortunate to find my hometown location in such sad, sad disarray.

I’ve visited several of their restaurants and they never disappoint—whether dining in or getting takeout. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it. This time I ordered the udon noodles to go, and they were excellent as always. Highly recommend! Updated from previous review on 2026-02-04
The first time I visited, the food and service were both great, which is why I decided to come back. Unfortunately, my second visit was a very different experience. We were seated for over 20 minutes without anyone greeting us or even bringing water, and eventually had to wave someone down. It didn’t seem like we had a dedicated server.
While our order was taken and the food came out very quickly, no one checked on us for the remainder of the meal. We tried to get the attention of several servers, but it felt like eye contact was being avoided. We were only able to get water about halfway through the meal.
The experience was disappointing and disheartening enough that we skipped dessert altogether. Tables around us appeared to have dedicated servers, so I’m not sure what went wrong in our case. I won’t be returning.

The staff almost never answer the phone there, so good luck having your questions answered with any immediacy. That could make the difference between gaining a customer and losing one.
EDIT: Someone from their team commented on my review to reach out about my experience. I followed up and they never got back to me. Not entirely sure what is going on, but it appears this was an empty gesture.

Good experience with a good food. I always refrained myself to go to sushi place being vegetarian. This vegan restaurant sushi amazing, drinks were great not dilated. Server and food service was fast and good.
One thing was missing, clean restrooms and no waiting area for big crowd while table is getting ready. Otherwise 5star experience

Food was great, service was good, but OMG the hallway to the bathroom WREAKS of marijuana. I brought it up to one of the waiters and he said that the employees put their belongings there and “this is DC so you should expect to smell some weed”. I would come back but just avoid the bathroom so I don’t catch a contact high. I really love how diverse the staff is here, good job with that.

Had a friend visiting the area which gave me a reason to finally come here. Been a long time veggie and this place looked so good! Highly recommend the kimchi bai buns and any of the hand rolls. Kailey was our server and super kind and attentive. Thank you.!

I’ve been to Planta Queen dozens of times - the food is great but the bar is really letting this location down - drinks take FOREVER to arrive - we routinely receive food before our drinks arrive. We’re not even ordering cocktails - just beers or sake.
