Chocolate pistachio croissant - 5 stars. so good and will be returning for this. Any place that has pistachio pastries is a place for me. Morning bun - very flavorful (cardamom & lemon) but a bit too dry for me. 3 stars Espresso & tonic - I did not like this at all, and will definitely get a safer drink option next time. There was a line at 130pm which I was surprised about, but it moved very quickly and we had no trouble finding a seat. Cute place, will be returning!

I had their pain Suisse and it was so good. Perfect crunch and texture, filling was delicious. I am suuuuuper critical of pastries and often throw them away after one bite if they are not truly excellent. The person behind the counter was also super nice. I highly recommend it!

The best cheesecake I’ve had. Not too sweet, great texture.

Amazing pastries, coffees, breakfast sandwiches, etc. Customer service is always nice and helpful. The only drawback is that it’s small and there’s not a lot of seating, but it always works somehow!

Lovely little spot with wonderful selection. When you walk in you can smell the freshly baked goods as everything is made here in house. For this trip, I arrived just in time for Pain Suisse ! Imagine flaky layers that crunch when you bite into the Pastry.Wanted to try their pistachio croissant for awhile and today was the day. It does not disappoint... Good balance of pistachio paste and buttery croissant dough.Their cortado is perfectly balance milk-coffee ratio as well!!

Great bakery with a great weakness - line management. The place is small and because their product is top notch, it’s often packed. If the line is long, forget it - you will be in there forever. Their line management is extremely slow and inefficient. If the line is short, or better yet - if you’re the only person in line, they will still make it slower than it needs to be, by dragging their feet and ignoring you.

It took me a while to make it to Noma to try the croissants there! Omg incredible. They beat Christophe in Georgetown by miles. Incredibly fresh, tasty, fluffy. Can't wait to go back.

Prior to dinner at Pastis, Alisha and I stopped by Pluma by Bluebird Bakery in Union Market. They sell pastries, dark chocolate, sandwiches, and drinks (coffee and tea). Alisha enjoyed an Ikebana Hot Tea while I enjoyed an Iced Chai Latte. Even though they sold out of most of their pastries, we got our hands on the last two Gianduja Chocolate Chip Cookies. Next time, I'd love to try their Specialty Drinks including Spanish Latte (with sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon), Chaider (with masala chai and apple cider), Mint Hot Chocolate, and Arnold Palmer.

Almond croissant goes crazy

I've been curious about this spot for a while, and I've now visited a couple of times and tried a decent range of their offerings. Their croissants, but especially their pain suisse (filled with chocolate and almond paste, beautiful dough, spot-on texture and flavor), are lovely. The pistachio one has always been sold out, but I'll try it some day! The Basque cheesecake was also good - not as custardy as I personally like it (honestly, much drier than I'm used to for this style of cheesecake), but still a solid 7/10 cheesecake with generous portions. The spinach and potato quiche was much less good (underseasoned, and I just didn't understand the crust or feel it worked with the quiche - not a pleasant flavor or texture. Mealy is the word that comes to mind). I also tried one of their cookies fresh in the morning and I'm sad to say it was overbaked. You could tell the chocolate was quality, but it had just been in the oven a few minutes too long and had gone chalky. Overall, pretty uneven experiences, but I love a good croissant and would come back for that and other pastries. I feel like they have an overbaking issue across the board here, but maybe it was a coincidence the few times I visited, I don't know. I'm interested in their sourdough and baguettes but haven't come at the right time for that either yet! Service was quick and friendly. It's a cozy spot with indoor and outdoor seating, but it's small and gets very busy, so I would plan to come early or get your order to go and eat it over at Union Market.

Walking into Pluma's bright tiles, dope lights, and high ceilings set the scene. The music playlist enhances your experience as a solo diner or small group. The pastries look next level. I went for the Sammy#2 with fennel sausage – the protein was mild flavored and a great base for the build the bread is perfect with a crispy crust and a soft core, I didn't taste any of the comte cheese but the egg was perfect for dunking. No doubt, I'm coming back – Pluma's got that neighborhood swag and good vibes.
