Unreal. 15 minutes for a single order of truffle fries. I thought I was getting real potatoes. It was just a small portion of frozen French fries with some gross out of a shaker clumped up Parmesan and something green on it. The tiny portion of white mayo goo was tasteless. For almost $17 I expected better. Do t buy

The food was great! Service was terrible. The waiter we had struggled to keep up & they sat us next to the door so we were freezing because the waiter kept going in and out. The waiter made an audible “oh my god” when the hostess sat us in his section and then proceeded to take almost 20 mins to even greet us. He was visibly annoyed even though it wasn’t our fault we got sat there. He had to be asked 3 times to bring water. My drink order wasn’t correct but he didn’t follow up again. We never got checked on again the rest of our visit after getting food. He was busy managing 2 other groups of 6-8 people and 3 other 2 top tables. Totally understandable that it was overwhelming but still could have been more communicative. Overall we will probably go again if the opportunity came up because the food and atmosphere are nice but service needs to be worked on. It ended up being over a 2hr service for 2 people. I would have rather waited at the door and been told there was a 20-30min wait than sat there being ignored and treated like an inconvenience.

The resteraunt is a little bit too dark but is nice overall. The business was slow but that's only because it was packed. Make sure to get a reservation. The food was great though, solid 9/10 food.

I picked this place because at 1pm on a Sunday it was one of the few restaurants without a line and we were starving. I actually really enjoyed the avocado toast. It came on a delicious bread with two poached eggs and a soft cheese. Two other people in my party had the berry waffles and noted there were okay, but kind of dry.I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and if I find myself in a pinch again, would definitely consider stopping by.

Food was good (a bit cold), but service was very slow, both waiting for food and asking for the check.

Came in for a late happy hour/meal. We sat in the bar and had fantastic service. The bartender was friendly and made suggestions on both the food and drinks. Proper 21 remains a high recommendation. Great food, great drinks, great vibe.

First and foremost, I was a tad disappointed to know I wasn’t getting my espresso whipped cream with my brioche French toast lol. I had that at the K Street location with sausage and was in ABSOLUTE LOVE! I saw the same thing on the F Street menu and was so excited. The F Street menu actually had a Tres Leches French toast with what I believe was brown sugar bacon. It was tasty, despite my brief disappointment lol. I had a side of grits that could’ve used some salt. The sangria with rose was refreshing and pretty. The wait to get the food wasn’t long at all, the hostesses were pleasant and the server was attentive.

We stopped here after a show at the National Theater, for a drink and bite of something sweet. The drinks were lovely and the cookie skillet with ice cream hit the spot. Definitely a great option for post-show hangout.

While I have been here several times before, this was by far the worst experience I have had. There was 1 bartender and 1 server for a completely full dining area and the manager was really not visible or helpful. My bartender did the best they could but this was obviously a managerial loss not a service. When I have managed restaurants I picked up when my staff was in the weeds. I feel like I saw less of the managers while their employees were drowning. Also gnocchi should not be served the way you do. It was dry and chewy. Seems like they are banking on location rather than quality. Hopefully management can pull it together but I wouldn't want to eat there again.

Went here for brunch before a show at the theater and the service was quick and the food was great I had the Huevos Rancheros which was the perfect amount and not greasy. My partner had tres me he French toast and wanted extra maple syrup but he is a sugar person…there’s already a ton of toppings. Mimosas were strong and atmosphere wasn’t loud either for a bar.

Derick was our host and he was amazing. Got our drinks and food without a slip up. We had like 6 different receipts to pat and he got us all taken care of. Thanks Derick.
