Had the pleasure of visiting Friday evening. Made a reservation ahead, and were greeted as soon as we walked in and sat at our table, 5 minutes before reservation. Enjoyed the egg roll appetizer, proper burger ♨️ and a few beverages. All of which were outstanding! The service was extremely friendly and efficient. Thank you Proper 21 we look forward to making this a routine stop when in D.C.

Dropped by with some pals to watch the baseball game last night. There are lots of TVs and a cool decor. We had some burgers and beers. Great service from the bartender Daria. We will be back to watch some hockey this week.

We stopped here for a drink because it was near our hotel. There was only a handful of people in the place and it was quiet, (it was nearly 11 pm on a Thursday) yet it took an extremely long time to get our round of drinks (two beers and a ginger ale).
Despite this, we returned the next night (around 8 pm) with a larger group. This time we sat outside and the place was busier with a more enjoyable atmosphere, but it still shouldn't have taken as long as it did for drinks to arrive. We gave up being waited on and people just went inside, ordered, and carried their own drinks back out.
Set your expectations for service low, and you'll enjoy the experience more.

We popped in to Proper 21 on K street for some drinks and snacks as part of a 40th birthday party. Selam was super helpful in making the reservation in advance and accommodating our group and Hans was incredible on the actual day of our event, making sure we got the best possible spot outdoors and being super attentive to our group. They helped make the special day feel more special!!

Visited Proper 21 for the second time this evening with a few colleagues and once again had an outstanding experience. Between us, we enjoyed several spicy mules, a refreshing mint cocktail, and a few beers. The smash burgers and fish & chips were excellent, but what truly distinguished the evening was the service.
Our bartender, Daria—who also served us on our first visit—was exceptional. She was efficient, attentive, and genuinely engaging, even with a packed bar. Daria carries herself with confidence, intelligence, and a natural sense of humor—qualities that are rare and invaluable in hospitality. My husband, who is also a restaurant owner, and I both agreed she’s a tremendous asset to the Proper 21 team. If she ever explored new opportunities, we’d hire her in a heartbeat.
We’ll absolutely be back. The food is consistently great, but the service—thanks to Daria—makes the experience exceptional every time.
Had lunch with a business colleague and was thoroughly impressed. The service provided by Daria was exceptional, and the food was outstanding. I will definitely be returning.

We had a nice time. Wait staff was very attentive. The wings were great. The lamb chops were tasty. Very small portions though. Drinks were strong. My birthday cookie was burnt, but it was free! Overall a good experience and I wouldn't mind eating there again.
