I've been here 3 times and this place is probably my current favorite bar in the city. The drinks, the food, the vibes, and the service are all impeccable. I keep bringing out of towners and everyone loves it.
I've had pretty much every drink and food item on the menu and they're each unique and worth trying. I particularly like the elevated papusas and michelada feels fancy yet somehow still authentic. However, the Ni de Aqui Ni de Alla drink perfectly summarizes the place and fits well with their current Top 50 Latin playlist in the background. You don't often hear Bad Bunny, Ozuna, and the latest Shakira in high-end cocktail bars. While anyone can feel at home here, it's a particular joy to those who've lived in Latin America.
Note that it's generally reservation only and quite intimate with just a bar area downstairs and about 3 small tables upstairs.

Providencia is special and that Michelin inclusion is well deserved. The ambience and experience is intimate. The cocktails are unique—a Trevete Te Te, Little Hats and Fast Trains, Michelada De La Casa—you can taste the balance and craft in each. We tried everything on the food menu except the tomatoes and pan de playa. Interplay of Asian spices and heat turn a usually boring and white table top Duck Confit into something you could eat at a street vendor. Who would have thought eggplant could go well with Gruyère or Camembert swimming in hot honey smeared on perfectly toasted bread is what you need on a windy Saturday evening.
Plantain tiramisu hits the spot without being too sweet, go for the baked Alaska if you like shaved ice and matcha.
Thank you and best of luck, team Providencia.

Drink is fine but front host is a rude educator. Don’t wanna come back again for another lesson.

Providencia is one of the most creative cocktail bars I’ve been to in DC. Every drink is beautifully made from the espresso martini clipped with a mini Kopiko candy to the vibrant purple cocktail topped with popcorn. You can tell the bartenders take real pride in what they do.
The food was just as impressive. The tamale was flavorful and comforting and the masa chip with dipping sauces was perfectly crisp and addictive. The space is cozy with a warm, intimate vibe and sitting at the bar makes the experience even better.
Perfect spot for a date night or catching up with a friend who loves unique cocktails and great food.

I really wanted to love Providencia. We had guests in town from overseas. We took them on a cocktail bar crawl of H street, starting at Providencia, then Hush Harbor, Henceforth and Haymaker (threw the Pug in for a change!). Providencia and Hush Harbor are “speakeasy’s” about 50 ft from each other. They both accommodate about 26 people. That’s where the similarities end. Providencia is a modern take on the speakeasy, it’s modern, bright, noisy and not particularly comfortable to sit, relax and speak with more than one other person. They have a small menu of cocktails. We didn’t ask and they didn’t offer that they had a repertoire of cocktails beyond the list. It took us 29 minutes to get a drink, in the wait time they made 3 cocktails for others, so it wasn’t like they were slammed. I ordered a mezcal based cocktail and could not taste the mezcal. Had them remake it, could barely taste the mezcal. I really want Providencia to succeed, but this was a poor experience and, if I have to choose, I will go to Hush Harbor every time.

Wow! Tucked away on H Street is this remarkable gem! The bar itself is a striking focal point, and the ambiance feels both casual and upscale at once, making it perfect for any occasion.
It's a perfectly curated menu that stories the cultural experiences of its owners. A masterful journey that is both warm, flavorful, delightful, and nostalgic. The small plates are equally worth the trip just as much as the drinks! And the best part, there is a perfectly curated N/A option as well!
Every dish we got was bursting with flavor. The Baked Alaska was mesmerizing; the chips and salsa was divine; the eggplant pupusa was to die for; the hojicha tiramisu is a must get!
Providencia combines a killer drinks list, expertly crafted food, and A+ vibes for a nice time out! Highly recommend checking Providencia out! The staff is incredible and responded so quickly to my requests! Will definitely be back again!
