Pupatella Neapolitan Pizza

Their use of authentic ingredients is evident. And they have a great midday. Price of three mini pizzas for $21. Will definitely return.

Absolutely amazing pizza, service was amazing, very friendly and attentive, over all i give this place above the 5 Stars. As a chef myself i was amazed on how on point everything is. Its a must to come here and see for yourself.

In D.C. there is plenty of average pizza, and some above average pizza.

But exceptional pizza is tough to find. Pupatella Neapolitan Pizza is exceptional.

The service was fun.

They must use only certain ingredients, only a specific type of oven and dough to keep their Neapolitan rating issued by the Italian government.

If you want a better pizza you can go to NYC or Italy, but in DC, Pupatella Neapolitan Pizza is a good as it gets.

First, the flame fired dough with burnt brown and black bits on an actual Italian pizza dough.

Second, the list of ingredients are approved by the Italian government -- no pineapple, no ketchup and no ranch and buffalo wing sauce -- just cheese and three ingredients.

I had cheese, sausage, garlic and mushrooms on mine -- it was SO GOOD. The mushrooms were so great, not canned, not thin, but thick and sauteed and tasty!

Place wasn't very clean... We were given a $12-Martini in a small, ordinary glass full of ice cubes. Martini had virtually no alcohol in it. Pizza was subpar with canned artichokes and mushrooms. We might have been out of luck on that particular night, but our experience was definitely not worth 4 or 5 stars...

I wanted to share feedback from my recent visit on Tuesday evening, as I had hoped for a better experience at this establishment.
While I understand Tuesday nights are typically quieter, the service was notably slow despite the restaurant being nearly empty. I observed several servers socializing near the bar area rather than attending to guests. Though our server was friendly, the extended wait times detracted from the overall experience.
The margarita was well-prepared, though I found it somewhat overpriced for the portion size and quality. Unfortunately, I had significant concerns about the pizza. While some portions tasted fine, other areas had an off-putting flavor that made it difficult to enjoy. The inconsistency across different sections of the same pizza suggests there may have been an issue with ingredient freshness, sanitation or preparation.
Given these concerns, particularly regarding food quality, I won’t be back.

I went for lunch based on a friend’s recommendation. I was impressed. The pizza went above my expectations. I also met the manager this day too. His knowledge of the ingredients and his passion for the place made me feel more than welcome. They also serve Maine Root Beer which was the icing on the cake for me. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Nice enviro and pizza craft is very good…A+. Our server was very nice but also very “fresh” in the experience dept. I’ll come back again and hope for a sunnier and capable server.

Pizza was great. The staff was wicked nice, especially Courtney, they showed our (somewhat rambunctious) boys the ovens and answered their questions!
