I walked in at a very slow time, so I got all the attention and very fast service : ) FOOD: 4 SERVICE: 5 AMBIANCE: 4 VALUE: 5 OVERALL: 4 This is one of those hole-in-the wall places which I'm glad I stumbled upon! I always wondered about it as I drove through this intersection- (Subway's neon sign glaring, ugh). Well this is a nice find!! It seems like Ethiopians like to come here to have their coffee, drinking slowly, along with their newspaper, and eat at their pace. I came on a rainy mid-day Thursday, so I don't know how crowded it gets on weekends or for dinner. Qategna Cafe gets great points for its service. The lady was very welcoming and when I mentioned I was in a hurry, she recommended the beef tibs ($9.95) because they would cook fastest. They didn't have anything prepared in back, which actually is a great thing since that means they always have fresh made-to-order platters. I asked for it to be a bit spicy, and she happily obliged. The whole process (choosing, cooking, paying) took only about 10-15 minutes. I would come back and try a few other items. They even had Fouul (which I love ever since I had it in Egypt) It's only served at breakfast time, however. (Fouul is mashed fava beans with onions, garlic, spices, and peppers, usually in pita bread. Simple but hearty. hmm maybe I should try making some at home :) Thought that the flavors were great! Injera was perfect, and the amount of food was hefty, so I saved some for dinner. The only reason why I was docking off a point is because I thought the beef was a little bit on the chewy side. However, maybe the lamb is more tender. Vegetarians will like this place too because there are many lentil and bean options. Enjoy!

The owner and head chef of Qategna is a pleasant woman. The cafe has a vibrant feel inside of it. I recently used her catering service for an event. Excellent food and service!!! I ordered both vegetarian and meat dishes, and all my guests were pleased with the food. The cafe has a vibrant feel inside of it. I look forward to use her services again.
