Terrible service and the number of customers confirms it.

After work, we decided to stop by Recession for their happy hour. Tucked away in a basement reminiscent of an old speakeasy, the ambiance immediately sets the tone for a unique experience. We opted to sit at the bar and were promptly greeted by the friendly staff.

Although the draft beer selection is limited, it still offers a quality range to satisfy different tastes. The standout feature here is the unbeatable happy hour pricing, with a generous 28oz beer available for just $9. While we didn't sample the food on this visit, we were pleasantly surprised by the lively atmosphere, complete with nightly karaoke and pool tables.

For those seeking a fun, relaxed spot to unwind with colleagues after a long day, Recession is a fantastic choice for happy hour.

Great ambience, good food, good service. Karaoke DJ is extremely rude. He has a last come first serve policy for queuing songs. Do not recommend, bad place for Karaoke, DJ really ruins the experience.

Went this past Saturday (5/18) for karaoke and had a great time! The food was delicious, drinks were on POINT! I believe the bartender said her name was Emily. She definitely did her thing. Customer service all around was just excellent! Definitely going back. Thank you staff!

Not too much stools at the bar. The bar tender was really nice. You also can get a Goose Island, so for a guy who used to live in Chicago, it’s a big deal. I don’t think I want to get back there, honestly. Not my type of place.

Fun time! Karaoke all night, and the crowd feels more like your playing a show. Everyone was super chill, and drinks are surprisingly well

Good dive food bar and decent service. But, after 2+ hours we weren’t called to do karaoke. They were very obviously favoring their standard regular clientele.

2 hours waiting to sing. The host is only allowing locals singing. Even if you are a professional singer, don’t try it. It’s a waste of time. Drinks are ok. If you want to karaoke, go somewhere else.

I was just in DC for a week on business and actually came here a couple of nights. Very friendly place. The food was great, staff was terrific and there's karaoke almost every night. Couple of pool tables as well. Highly recommend.

The best bar in the universe. A hidden gem. The dive bar you’ve always been looking for and deserve. If you love karaoke, friendly owners, and big beers - this is your home.
