Chef Johnny's culinary excellence and passion for food is the reason Reverie is an absolute STANDOUT for my husband and I. It’s a must-try for anyone seeking inventive fine dining that celebrates the best of what each season has to offer. His creativity and dedication to seasonal, thoughtfully sourced ingredients leaves you in awe and should absolutely be the special occasion place you venture to next. We love fine dining and our experiences at Reverie always exceed our expectations.

We found street parking fairly easily and we were about 20 minutes early but they sat us right away. They offer coat check as well and provide a little stool for your bag. One of the pricier Michelins but the seafood provided definitely makes it worth it. It does get pricey with the additional 22% service charge.

I think we loved everything except for the halibut. That was the only item that I felt like didn't quite live up to the rest of the course. There was an octopus diah that was beautifully cookes but seemed to lack just a little salt and something acidic. Everything else was delicious and had amazing individual components. Super friendly team and the chef came to the table as well a couple of times. We loved the uni rice and this AMAZING fried fish and the desserts were beautiful. They had this one dessert that was like a chocolate Madeleine and it was so good.

Loved the atmosphere and wonderful service. I would absolutely recommend coming here to celebrate my brother's birthday.

A refined dining experience featuring quality ingredients, expert preparation, and outstanding service. Each bite feels like a unique journey, and the flavor pairings are bold. Be prepared for challenging and unfamiliar flavors that will have you pause and reflect on the meticulous detail and artistic flair. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure your comfort and enjoyment during your two and a half hour experience. It is well worth a visit.

The food was amazing as expected from a Michelin start restaurant, but the service was not the best. My wife and I have been to many Michelin start restaurants and other restaurants in general and this is the first Michelin start restaurant that the service didn't fell like a Michelin start restaurant. The only person that we think was doing a good job was the person serving us water. In multiple occasions I had to wave a server to get drinks for me and my wife. Also, we had a 8PM reservation and by 9PM the open concept kitchen was already closed. It just feels like they are rushing you out when you see them cleaning.

I wish I could write a novel on how ABSOLUTELY AMAZING this experience was. We have had the opportunities to eat at multiple micheline restaurants and this is in the top 3 of our extensive list! From the moment you walk in, the staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, great view of the open kitchen, timing of the food is not rushed, but absolutely perfect. I can tell the staff is constantly keeping an eye on each table to time out the meal appropriately. Each staff member takes the time to interact and converse with guests and it's not a rehearsed script with each plate. Also, the food is not only beautiful but delicious!! What I found impressive is how often the menu will change, I was told a couple times a month I think- that is an impressive change so frequently. Please do yourself a favor and go to Reverie! They definitely deserve more than 1 michelin star

We felt specially cared for from the moment we set foot in the entry garden until we left. Every course included an explanation of the preparation. It was super fun as different tables had different staff describing courses which expanded our understanding while adding an individuality to the experience. The staff enjoyed the guests and the decor added a sense of hip calm. This was all improved by Chef Spero's Spotify list. Great time.

Nice space but the food leaves a lot to be desired. Nothing really stuck with me at the end of the meal and the desserts were weird and too one dimensional. Feel like they could benefit from a pastry chef.

My wife and I recently celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary at Reverie, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our special evening memorable. They were incredibly accommodating, particularly with regard to my wife's dietary restrictions due to her pregnancy. This thoughtful attention to her needs truly enhanced our dining experience. The ambiance of Reverie set the perfect tone for our anniversary celebration. The dinner itself was delightful, with a menu that reflected both creativity and skill. The staff and chefs were not only knowledgeable but also warm and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of our meal was perfectly suited to our preferences. Overall, Reverie offered a wonderful combination of excellent food, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal choice for special occasions. We left with full hearts and satisfied palates, and we look forward to returning in the future.

I recently dined at this exceptional restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The setting was both elegant and inviting, creating a warm atmosphere enhanced by carefully chosen music that complemented the experience. The staff was both friendly and knowledgeable, providing attentive service without being intrusive. One standout feature was how the chefs personally brought out the dishes, adding a special touch to the meal. It’s evident that a great deal of thought and care has been put into every aspect of the restaurant, making it a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a thoughtful and enjoyable meal.

Amazing dinner, we think Reverie should be a 2-star Michelin restaurant. Each and every dish was meticulously prepared, and the progression was so natural; dishes are quite related to one another. Every bite was delicious and every dish was special in its own way. If we were to pick to highlights: The crab dish (crab two ways) and the amazing bread/ice cream dessert. The financier was also very special. Service was impeccable, and the drinks (non alcoholic, cocktails, and wine) were wonderful.

I have dined at one star Michelin restaurants that were significantly worse than this. The food was stunning the wine pairing well matched. Pricy but worth it for special occasions.

Reverie is not just a restaurant, it's an odyssey. Tucked away in Washington D.C., this Michelin-star haven crafts an experience that transcends the ordinary, capturing the soul of what dining should be. You don't just eat here - you embark on a journey through taste, texture, and technique.

The atmosphere is a harmonious blend of elegance and edge. The decor, dinnerware, and even utensils whisper sophistication, with an undercurrent of rebellious creativity. The lighting is just right, setting the stage for an unforgettable culinary performance.

The menu at Reverie is a testament to culinary audacity, and the use of butter in each dish is nothing short of revelatory. Every dish is meticulously crafted, a symphony of flavors that sing in perfect harmony. The abalone, crab, and scallops are sublime, their richness elevated by the silkiest, most ethereal butter you've ever tasted, melting in your mouth like an ephemeral dream. Their inventive use of Jonah and green crab consommé not only showcases their culinary prowess but also their commitment to sustainability, transforming an invasive species into a luxurious, flavorful centerpiece of fine dining. The seafood is so fresh, it might as well have been plucked from the ocean moments before arriving at your table, each bite enhanced by a delicate butter glaze that dances on your palate. Each plate is a work of art, almost too beautiful to eat – but eat you must.

Service here is an exercise in precision. They're knowledgeable, passionate, and just the right amount of unobtrusive. I had dropped my napkin by accident fully intending to reuse it and not wanting to bother the staff but within seconds, I was offered another from a server on the other side of the restaurant who happened to see it. It feels less like being served and more like being taken care of by a friend who happens to know a heck of a lot about food, wine, and incredible non-alcoholic drinks.

Speaking of, the non-alcoholic drink list is a treasure trove for the discerning palate. Each bottle, each pour, is a story waiting to be told and I couldn't recommend it enough.

Reverie is more than a restaurant; it's a testament to what happens when passion, creativity, and skill converge. It's a place that makes you fall in love with food all over again. One of the servers told me that this culinary gem was nearly lost to a fire a couple of years ago, but like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Reverie has returned stronger, more vibrant, and even more dedicated to the art of dining. Even the decor and ambiance of the restaurant embrace its charred past. In a world filled with noise, this place sings a beautiful, unpretentious song of culinary excellence. It's a place that Anthony Bourdain himself would have celebrated, a reminder that food is not just sustenance – it’s a way to connect, to dream, and to revel in the beauty of the moment.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary and needless to say, we'll likely be coming back for many future special occassions. If you find yourself in D.C., make a reservation at Reverie. Allow yourself to be transported. Because in a city full of power plays and politics, places like this are where magic truly happens.
