I chose this restaurant to celebrate my 30th birthday and had mixed experiences that I feel management should be aware of.
The cocktail hour on the first floor was genuinely great. The bartender was fun, engaging, and very accommodating, and our group had a wonderful start to the evening. That part of the experience set a high expectation for the rest of the night.
After the cocktail hour, we moved upstairs for dinner, and unfortunately this is where the experience changed. I understand that I did not book the restaurant as a private event and that sharing space with other guests is normal, and I had no issue with that in principle. However, I was not informed in advance that a large baby shower would be taking place at the same time, occupying roughly two thirds of the space. There was no ambient music, and our group was placed tightly into a corner, which made the evening feel awkward and uncomfortable, as if we were taking a small piece out of someone else’s private celebration. The other party themselves were perfectly pleasant, but the lack of communication from the restaurant made this situation difficult.
On top of that, our waiter was dismissive and unpleasant, barely speaking to us and making us feel unwelcome. For a milestone birthday, that was especially disappointing. After about an hour, our group made the decision not to order main courses. Some people had appetizers and drinks, but because we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome, we chose to leave and continue the evening elsewhere.
I want to emphasize that this feedback is not about sharing space or the other event itself. It is about communication and hospitality. Had I been told in advance about the setup, the lack of music, or the seating situation, I could have made an informed decision.
I am grateful for the excellent bartender who gave us such a great start to the evening, but overall the experience fell short and dampened what should have been a special celebration. I hope management takes this feedback seriously so future guests celebrating important occasions feel welcomed and properly informed.

Had my work Holiday party ant Roofers Union and Maggie was the best! So communicative and helpful, the second floor was perfect for our group with beautiful decorations and the food and drinks were great as well!!
Hosted a private event here for about 120 people. We had an excellent time. The staff was amazing and the venue is perfect for a group of that size.

Trivia Nights (Weds evenings) are very well-managed and fun. The service is attentive and the happy hour menu is on offer in addition to the full menu.
Very nice rooftop bar. Great views. Not too busy during the week

Our group of 8 had a great time at Roofers Union. Despite our large party, we were able to get seated fairly quickly. The rooftop was closed for renovations but was expected to open the following week. Even so, the dining area has huge windows overlooking Adams Morgan which sets a nice atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and provided quick service as well as good vibes. I had the fish and chips which were delicious and the all day happy hour was a nice surprise. Overall, good vibes, great food and friendly staff make this a place I would happily return.

My girlfriends and I had a wonderful time. The food and drinks were incredible as well as the view. The reason I'm leaving this review though, is because at one point in the night, a very drunken man would not leave us alone. Without going into detail, we did not have to do anything. One of the amazing bartenders came to our rescue and promptly removed him from the premises. She was incredible and I'll be back.

Went there for lobster Tuesday, and it was great. Food was really great, I think they need bigger plates for the lobster but other than that it was great!
The lobster was amazing. I have gone many times and will be back again. Nice happy hour too!
Nice big open space, decent food, comparable pricing to area restaurants. Good for groups. Noise level a bit high
We had our wedding reception at Roofers Union in October, and it was absolutely perfect. The space was stylish, comfortable, and had the exact vibe we were going for — fun, a little eclectic, and still really polished.
Mark Namdar and his team were amazing throughout the whole process. Mark was super responsive, helpful with planning, and made sure every detail came together smoothly. On the day of, the staff was fantastic — professional, friendly, and totally on it, so we didn’t have to worry about a thing.
The food and drinks were a huge hit with our guests, and everything flowed exactly how we hoped. We’re so grateful to the team at Roofers Union for making our reception such a fun, memorable night.

Nice neighborhood restaurant with a rooftop view. We arrived at the start of happy hour, and it was slow, but picked very quickly. By the time we finished our meal the place was popping.
The food is basic American staples, but done well and tasty. I’d recommend it for a bite to eat if you’re in the area.
