There's a reason Rose Ave usually has a line out the door. This is one of the best bakeries in DC, with a somewhat limited selection compared to other bakeries. They have one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the city, egg and cheese on a garlic croissant type roll. Super rich and will definitely leave your hands covered in butter. The ube kouign amann is incredible and the donuts are both delicious and unique. They have great coffee and a small selection of cakes and slices of cake as well.

I only had the breakfast sandwich and the Vietnamese iced coffee but it rocked my world. Gonna be coming back when I’m in the area.
Pricey though, but I think you get what you pay for

The food and drinks are very good. It often takes a while to make our drinks, if they even remember at all

Do expect to wait but it’s typically not long. I love all of the options as far as pastries and drinks! Always a great experience!

Line is ridiculously long on weekends. If you want another Asian fusion bakery-cafe that's equally good and without the Instagram hype and the 30 minute queue, get off the metro 1 stop away at Cleveland Park and go to SakuSaku.

Cute cafe but I feel like their corn flavor is not great. It must be artificial as the corn cold foam is a regular white color and I was expecting a creamy yellow. The iced coffee with corn barely tasted like corn at all not worth the money. The match corn was better but just an added fake corn flavor

The Intern: When I read the reviews I thought that this place was going to blow me away, but in reality it had a smaller selection than most bakeries, and the food was very simple, but trying to be fancy in a way.
I’m not a doughnut person and this was a place with a lot of doughnuts, so it wasn’t really my favorite.
We got the Strawberry Passion Kouign Amann, Matcha Chocolate Twice Baked Croissant, Sugared Donut, and the Roasted Tomato Sambal Focaccia.
The Strawberry Passion was a 7/10, very delicious with a passion fruit filling and a croissant-like texture.
The Sugared Donut was very simple, nothing too fancy, just a donut with no filling and sugar on top.
The Focaccia was OK, just a little kick of spice. It was a curry bread with tomato sauce.
I really liked the decorations and vibe of Rose Ave.

1 word: DONUTS.
As a person who usually steers clear of anything fried (including donuts), I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try the passion fruit donut & the ube donut. Both were absolutely divine! They weren't greasy or heavy and the flavors were amazing. My family loved them too. We also ordered some drinks which were delicious as well. Definitely stop by this awesome bakery!!

Please make the Mango Matcha Latte and Strawberry Matcha Latte a forever menu item 🥹. Don’t ever take it off. They’re the best and never fail. But if you have a banana 🍌 matcha 🍵 at least once, I’ll be there everyday. We love Rose Ave’s matcha.

First timer today, and it’s a cute bakery. There is seating space. Only thing, I noticed nobody was taking my order or paying attention to me, so that was a little annoying. Other than that! The Matcha was good and my favorite was the Ube coconut donut.

Couldn’t recommend it more, must visit if you’re passing through the neighborhood like I was. Got a pineapple cream amman (one of the specials) and it was super fresh, with bright flavors and great balance. I also got a Vietnamese coffee which was just as good—rich, sweet, and STRONG. Fabulous!
The service was great too, super nice people and the line moved pretty quick for a busy Sunday morning.
4 stars because nothing is perfect, except for my wife she’d get 5. Passion fruit donut is probably the best donut I’ve ever had in my life.
Really good bakery. The selection was good. The quality was good. The food was good. No complaints. We got there at opening on a rainy Saturday and there was a long line but it went quick (10 min). We got the following, with asterisks to indicate what we’d get again:
- Pandan Coconut
- Passion Fruit
- Ensaymada
- Saigon Cinnamon Banana Cookie*
- Strawberry Passion Kouign Amann*
- Strawberry Lychee Rose Donut
