I Ordered the $35 pork chop cooked medium. It was small and thin. Was cooked very rare. I tried to eat around it a bit hoping it would work. But it was just way too rare. I asked to send it back. I assumed they’d cook me a fresh pork chop, which couldn’t cost them more than $5 at that portion size. Instead they put it back on the grill. Still came back rare. I assumed they’d remove it from the bill or at least discount it. Nope - full price. And 20% mandatory service charge. I feel bad - the place is clearly struggling. But they’re not going to make it work by trying to save a few bucks by giving the customer a horrible experience.

I've never written a review before, however I need to in order for action to be met hopefully and maybe a bit of constructive criticism for rosedale as a whole if they allow staff such as this new bartender valentine?; for other patreons to not experience this in the future. I usually sit at the bar twice a month on Fridays and Saturdays, taken care of by Walter and the other female bartender. However my last visit wasn't too great,10/25/25 actually if I'm being frank as of recent visit with my girlfriends last week 10/30/25 wasn't very satisfactory either, not to place blame but to give acknowledgement to management. She may have been a bit inebriated or in a bad mood, doubtful since her behavior was frequent, she speaks very loud and has a obnoxious laugh, especially if I'm sitting right in front of her, with little to no guests present for her to do so. I'm not sure if she's a bit inebriated from those two times I've visited, however, the way valentine tone is to other staff was disappointing to witness, the regular maître d’ who's always pleasant and walks around to assist costumers had to apologize to us the first time her tone was rude in front of guests, simply over a mispronunciation of her name? I didn't want to write this review because it is in poor taste however, when you witness someone's character in a negative way more than once it needs to be known. It will take me some time to visit again, the staff is all very lovely, the bartender Valentine needs better hospitality experience.

The atmosphere is beautiful and service was excellent unfortunately we did not like the food. Our family ordered two pizzas and a burger, and we weren’t pleased with any of them.

20% service fee
Let me repeat that
20% service fee
A nice waitress average food and a fair atmosphere are completely irrelevant with the 20% service fee.
I don’t recommend anybody eat at this restaurant until that is eliminated
I recently had dinner at Rosedale with three friends, and while I appreciate the farm-to-table concept, our experience left a lot to be desired.
Since they were out of ingredients for the Spiced Peach mocktail, I asked for a fruity mocktail instead, but it ended up watered down and lacking flavor. For my main dish, I had trouble deciding between the white pizzas and went with our server’s recommendation, the Forager Pizza. The crust was nicely done, but I found the flavors too rich and the cheese overpowering.
My friends shared the Grilled Bavette steak, which unfortunately was chewy, under-seasoned, and seemed to rely too heavily on the sauce for flavor. We wrapped up with the Peach Melba, but the poached peach resembled something out of a can and, much like the rest of our meal, it fell flat.
Overall, while the service was pleasant and the setting charming, the food simply didn’t meet expectations. Everything we ordered sounded great on paper but underdelivered in taste.

I’ve eaten here 3 times - everything I’ve had is delicious! I love the rotating menu. Octopus, croquettes, salads, pastas, pizzas - all amazing! Best pork chop I’ve ever eaten. Burger was 10/10. Staff is excellent and attentive. Food comes out timely, but I’ve never felt rushed. The restaurant is also a beautiful environment. I think it is the best restaurant in Van Ness/Forest Hills and certainly one of my favorites in the city.

Four of us had a wonderful dinner at Rosedale. We shared a number of appetizers including oysters, pate, croquettes, frita mista, and heirloom tomatoes. We finished with two pizzas. Everything was very good. The pate was outstanding and the pizzas - very thin, crisp crust - were extraordinary. As for drinks, Walter makes delicious and innovative cocktails. I had one based on mezcal and it was great. The sommelier is first rate and guided up to a stunning rose that was just right. The service was attentive, helpful, and cheerful. We were very happy when we left.

Wow. From the moment we walked in for brunch through til the end, we were impressed!
The food was beyond delicious, the service was impeccable (and warm), and the ambiance was lovely (soft but good music, inviting decor. comfortable seating, etc). What more could you want? Thank you!
We had the soft-shell crab, porchetta, oysters, and muffins (and some lovely sparkling rosé) - all extraordinary.
We'll be back for dinner, happy hour, and more.

Really enjoyed a bourbon and coke and fries on their happy hour. For a neighborhood without many restaurant options, this is a great place for a casual evening outdoor drink on happy hour and people watching if you live in forest hills. The fries were great and the drink was poured generously. I will definitely be back especially when the weather is nice.

Great service, amazing food
We made a reservation expecting a good experience, but it was quite the opposite. The menu didn’t have many options, and three of them were unavailable (pizza, meat, and fish)—precisely the things I was interested in. I specifically wanted pizza. To my surprise, during my short dinner (only 30 minutes), I saw four pizzas come out… even though I was told they didn’t have any.
I ordered a salad that was poorly prepared and had no flavor, and my son had pasta that was basically tasteless dough. The portions were very small for the price. To top it all off, they didn’t have change for a cash payment.
A Mother’s Day dinner that turned out to be a big disappointment. I don’t recommend it, and I won’t be going back.

Friends took me to Rosedale several days ago for my birthday, and it was perfect. Although I rarely order chicken at non-Asian restaurants, the Amish half-chicken is one of the specialties, so I went for it. No regrets. The chicken and the accompanying vegetables were done perfectly (vegetables not overcooked), and the portion was so large that I finished it only today for lunch. My friends both ordered the steelhead trout, and it looked amazing (also a sizable portions). Some reviews had critiqued rushed service, but they seem to have fixed that issue, as our service was excellent. The server overhead that it was my birthday, and let us know that I got a free dessert! (Went with the chocolate cake.) Definitely will return.

The service and ambience were excellent, and the menu choices were all tempting, but the steelhead trout and accompanying vegetables were so oversalted as to be nearly inedible. Perhaps the chef is a cigarette smoker with dulled tastebuds?

My pizza’s crust was burnt, and I mentioned it both to the person who brought it and to the bartender and nobody did anything about it. The service is mediocre at best, and the food is very overpriced.
