So sad that its closing! Fun times and good vibes. They have an awesome happy hour, it's just not a great location :(

I give Roy Boys 3.5 stars. I visited early on a Sunday evening before attending an event at the Howard Theatre a few blocks away. I've been seeing so much about Roy Boys on social media and it has been on my "to-try" list for a while. When I arrived, I sat at the bar. Luckily for me, it was happy hour at the time. Roy Boys is popular for their fried chicken and chicken sandwiches. I decided to partake in the happy hour specials and ordered the chicken sliders with a side of fries. My drink of choice was the Oruña. Everything was ok. I didn't feel like anything stood out to make me rush to return but everything was solid. I didn't want anything too heavy at the time but I would like to return to try a full-sized chicken sandwich as well as their fried chicken with sides. Oh! And they have ice cream tacos! That is something I definitely want to get during my next visit. Roy Boys has a pretty cool atmosphere. You'll see cool art, including portraits of hip-hop artists, throughout the restaurant. They also have a pretty bomb playlist going. My server was nice as well. They automatically add gratuity to your bill and my server made me aware of that before I signed the check. Another thing to note is that they don't accept cash. When I'm in the area again, I'd like to check out Roy Boys again to try some other menu items.

We LOVED Roy Boys! We came before a show at the 930 club which is right around the corner, so it is an excellent location. We enjoyed their hot chicken tenders, Orúña cocktails, waffle fries, crab dip, and biscuit basket. We ordered way too much because the portions were pretty generous. We indulged in their happy hour pricing too which is so reasonable considering the awesome location!!The decor is so hip and fun.I can’t wait to come back!!

bananas fosters French toast was nothing less than official! I would describe it but the video and pic speaks for itself! What was even more amazing is that it wasn't sweet!

Reposting because it looks like my review was removed. Went to try this place out with a few friends for happy hour and a mouse ran across the restaurant from the direction of the bathrooms. Staff acted as if nothing happened and did nothing. Be aware if planning to visit.

A mouse was running through the restaurant! Me and my party left immediately! The waiters and staff just laughed and said they can't do anything about it

Cool atmosphere but their idea of Mofongo is definitely not what I'm accustomed to and I'm a Jersey girl that was raised with Boriquas. I don't know if different parts of the island prepare it other ways but this way is not for me. Had fatty / bone in chicken thigh, not shredded and stuffed inside of mashed plantains w/ that delicious gravy on top Smh. I was very disappointed.$$

Love this place! It’s become one of our favorite spots when we are in dc! Best Nashville hot chicken I’ve had outside of Nashville! The tacos are bomb and the service is amazing!

A decent venue. Music was a little loud for my taste as it made it hard to hear everyone in the group. I'd love to go back to try some other dishes. Hopefully next time they won't be out of stock for the ones I really want. What we got: Buffalow Ryder - 4* this was a pretty solid chicken burger. I wished it was a tad bigger, but not the most important thing. The blue cheese was a nice touch. The buffalo sauce was kind of non-existent, at least I couldn't really taste it. I did appreciate that the other ingredients didn't overpower the burger; the chicken was the main show. The waffle fries - 2* we are debating if they were freshly unfrozen or if they were just stale. Regardless they were not that great. Chick-fil-A is much better. Chocolate Swirl - 4* it was fun, yummy and very messy. I was disappointed that they were out of the other two options as they seemed superior but c'est la vie.

The chicken sandwich was on point. Nice spot. Great vibe just a few blocks from Howard University in DC.

Ambiance is great and staff as well, but this is a far cry from Nashville chicken. Tenders are incredibly, incredibly dry.Greens and fries are good, though.

?Ridiculously awesome fried chicken? Wow! Like Mom used to make for the Fourth of July ??. Crispy + crunchy on the outside. Moist + meaty on the inside. Louisiana style is spicy and just so right. The collard greens and biscuits are perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and oh, so tasty. And,the naughty fried pickles? Who could possibly resist them? Yum! ?. Roy Boys = home cookin', baby! ❤️
