For anyone searching for authentic California burritos, look no further! Since moving from San Diego, I’ve struggled to find Mexican food that meets my high bar for guacamole, carne asada, salsa verde and most importantly, the classic California burrito. This place finally delivered! Thank you, Ruban, and your amazing staff for bringing those flavors I’ve been missing.

Order $27 worth of food at the food truck last night 9/9/25 at amazon 10:30pm. (1) Chicken Quesadilla and (1) Chicken Burrito. Asked the guy at counter if the Quesadilla came with sour cream, he said yes. No sour cream in my bag. You had one job, literally.
This was the BEST BURRITO I’ve had in my 57 years on earth.

Was looking for a place to eat lunch and stumbled upon their 1/2 off on Wednesdays all day sign. Took a minute to decide and I'm glad I came back around. Ordered a steak quesadilla and it was so good. 🔥 I added onions and peppers and got extra sour cream so it came out to be like $8 and it was definitely worth it. Ordered a churro too and it was nice and warm. 😋 It was cold as hell in here though. 😹

I actually went to DC to go to the Mimosa festival since I missed it listening to my fiance lol so we decided to find a bar and we ended up here.at Rubens it was pretty busy when we got there but we have served right away drinks for good food was good and had great specials great music hope to visit again soon even the security guard outside was very nice and friendly. We did leave to go somewhere else but ended the night right back here we ordered some loaded fries picture in my other phone but they were the best loaded fries I've ever had well most definitely be back 👍🏾

Sadly, I won’t be going to Ruben’s anymore. I’ve been going here since the first opened. Their food is honestly amazing. I only get to enjoy it when I’m in the office, since it’s right next to my job. Today I decided to get two tacos for taco Tuesday they have a special going on. I then wanted a drink I ordered the drink before I left. I ordered the mango drink, while the drink is already $6.50 plus tax .39 cents I noticed the total came out to be $8.19. I told lady at the cash register it was a mistake she said it wasn’t then proceeded to say it was the taxes. I told her to please go back and check sure enough they “AUTOMATICALLY” added 20% for tip $1.30. I told her to please remove she said I can’t it’s automatic. So you’re telling me I don’t have the option to reject? Insane ! It really saddens me that they purposely add tip. I made sure to let me colleagues know as well to be careful as they also like to go there on Tuesdays. I added pictures from the website to show you how much the drink is and how much it came out to be with the tip she added.

The birria tacos were incredible. I will definitely be coming back just for those alone!
I attended a Saturday night bachata lesson and social at Rubens. The entry fee came with a free drink, I ended up getting the mango flavored margarita with Tajin rim. Tasty drink and friendly service, as for the dance lesson it was a bit tricky maneuvering in the odd shaped space. However instructor and attendees were helpful and very friendly, would come back again!
I’ve found some of the most authentic Mexican flavors in DC here. I tried the birria tacos and honestly, they’re a solid 10/10. Way better than the fancy Mexican spots around town, and the price is on point. The service was excellent, too—everyone was super attentive and friendly. Even the music they play really transports you to Mexico.
The only thing I’d mention is the sauce—it’s a bit on the generic side, kind of like something you'd pick up off the shelf. A salsa asada would probably be a better match for the menu, but I get it—they might need to adjust a bit to fit local tastes. Still, a minor detail in an otherwise fantastic experience.
Great Mexican food, inexpensive, no frills, and fast service. Walked out with a full belly. Great flan and Tres Leche cake.
I ordered through Uber by accident. So glad I did. This was the best burrito I’ve had in a long long time.
