Rue has been my go-to cafe for the last year or so, so I decided it’s way overdue for me to give them a review. I literally love everything about Rue - the coffee is delicious and I love all their seasonal drinks (though it’s always so hard to decide between getting the seasonal and my go-to lavender latte), the food is fireeee (get the avo turkey with spicy mayo! it’s so good 😭 oh and the parmesan/leek pastry is stupid good, as are like all their pastries), and all the staff are just beyond kind and wonderful. The space is also super cute and cozy. Absolutely my favorite cafe in the neighborhood and will be my go-to always.

This cute spot exudes friendly vibes and offers a variety of unique coffee options. The salmon bagel, and BLT were delicious

New Patio Bar at Rue Cafe is Open! Tues-Sun 1 pm - 10 pm (hours might change)

Rue Cafe has been my favorite cafe for years (they serve what might be the best dirty chai latte in the whole city), but I was hyped to see the construction on their patio and hear that they’d be serving drinks. I’m happy to report that just like the coffee, Rue’s patio bar cocktails and light bites are phenomenal!! Highly recommend the wings (perfect level of spice) The Horn Pour citrus-infused vodka cocktail. Big shout out as well to the friendly service and lovely music 😌 will be dragging friends from all over the neighborhood here over the coming weeks.

P.S. They just opened so expect things like hours, drinks, and food options to change as they continue to receive host and get feedback.

One of my favorite local and non-chain coffee shops in DC! The folks at Rue run a top notch cafe that is great to chill/work/grab and go from. Plus they just opened a new cocktail bar with a wonderful outside patio that is open on the weekend and into the evenings.

The new patio space is really pretty. Lots of plants and super clean. The drinks, especially the mezcal one, were great and super unique. Service was good too. Would love to see some stronger fans to beat the DC humidity and a more affordable mocktail.

coffee is like coffee. And I would like more politeness and attention from the staff.

Fantastic cafe to work from. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, coffee is predictable, food and pastries are solid. I wish there were more outlets but I've never had an issue charging up for work. In the warmer months they have additional outdoor seating as well. Support this small business :)

It's cute but small, particularly if you're in a wheelchair or use a mobility device. It is wheelchair accessible, though. I'm not sure if the bathroom is accessible, but the rest is accessible. It's expensive, I got a small hot chai latte with pumpkin and it was $7, but it's DC, so not too surprising I guess. It was a good chai latte. Also, you do need the code to use the bathroom.

Rue is great! The baristas are friendly and most of their pastries are good including the citrus olive oil cake, the cheesecake, and the eclairs. I would skip the croissant (go to Le Caprice for their croissants instead!). It’s a nice place to study or work but you need to arrive early as the WFH crew will take up every table by 11-12 am.
