Friends, honestly, shame and disgrace. Ukrainian cuisine is so tasty and diverse, and what I managed to try in your restaurant (banosh, dumplings) is just a shame!!! The only thing that was tasty was the sliced lard. Send your chefs to Ukraine for training, let them teach them how to cook Ukrainian cuisine!!!

10 out of 10, will keep coming back. I have had Ukrainian food in my diet my entire life so I know legit homemade recipes. With Ruta, I appreciate the authenticity combined with creativity. The team is incredibly nice and attentive with their service. Go for dinner and enjoy the desserts. If you can't do dinner, at least come in for the "Salo" platter and a couple drinks. Any time I am in Washington, Ruta is a "go to" for me! Thank you, Ruta!!

I went to the FIRST UKRAINIAN Restaurant in Washington. With mother, 83 years old. Which means I'm 60... I was very dissatisfied. “A million” girls around, but no service. Between the first (borscht) and the second (beef stroganoff) we waited 34 minutes. The vegetable borscht was delicious (or we were hungry), but by the time we waited for the second one, the hunger passed... The beef stroganoff was OBVIOUSLY G. There were a lot of mushrooms, meat as thick as a hair, they caught it. It was inconvenient that they did not serve “in Russian,” or in English, or in Ukrainian. Of course, I understand the inadequate situation, but since I, a Russian, showed up in Washington to support a Ukrainian restaurant, business, in the United States, in Washington, is it normal to serve me (in Russian) in a language that they understood?Hate Russia. But I don't think it was right. This is the situation!

Visited this restaurant for the first time, very nice design and convenient location. We ordered: borscht, deruni and Kyiv cake. The borscht was very tasty, but there was only one donut with it, but it was really tasty. The deruny are not bad, but maybe because we were late, they weren't as crispy as they should have been. Kyiv cake 10/10, but $15 for a small piece is really a lot. The girl who served us from Chernihiv (not sure) is very friendly and happy to help. Thank you, I hope to try other dishes next time!

The atmosphere of the restaurant was promising at first, but it took them ~30 minutes to bring an appetiser and a main course. Lo and behold! There was a tiny hair in my little pelmeni. I told my server about this situation and she just said “Oh” and took the dish back, then returned with the plate a couple of minutes later. I have no idea whatever it was the same one that was served to me or they fixed a new one.Needless to say, I decided to leave no tip since there was no apology or an attempt to fix the situation somehow. After seeing that there was no tip, neither the server nor the other workers uttered a word and had a sour look on their faces. Absolutely unprofessional service. Avoid this establishment and save yourself some money
