We come here regularly and love it! Haven't quite tried every menu item yet, but we've had most and we like them all. Seasonings and sauces are hearty and tasty. They've been around for decades and you can see why when you try the food. Portions are large: takeout, for us, is usually dinner and then lunch the next day. It's fast-casual, ready in minutes. And don't miss the mac and cheese, it's so good. The staff is genuine and warm. If you order online and they're out of a side, they'll call you to confirm a substitute. Next door is a natural foods co-op grocery, check it out.
I’m always on a hunt for good Mac and cheese, and they did not disappoint! The yams were perfect texture but I would like it just slightly sweeter. The chicken was amazing but one was just slightly too fried. Despite these slight imperfections. I would come here anytime! Champ job, and the woman working there was superb nice. It’s a bit small to eat in, there are only three small tables, but I made do. Updated from previous review on 2025-12-19
I had ordered food catered. Although I arrived before the cafe opened, they unlocked the door and allowed me to come in while they fixed my order. Kind and thoughtful.
My coworkers and I were truly impressed by the delicious food and friendly staff. The service was absolutely excellent.

Small place outside the city center with simple concept where you can choose a main, two sides and either buiscut or cornbread. They offer also Sandwiches and take home food in the fridge like cakes, salads and juices. The owner was very friendly and although it was small, the place was cosy and athmosphere was very welcoming! The food was really good! It was fresh, well seasoned, filling and the price was reasonable! My favourite was the cornbread and the beef and broccoli! The way there was really worth it!
I love eating at Senbeb Cafe! It’s my 3rd visit in a years’ time and the vegan food is so delicious!

Vegan cafe? Right this way! I stopped by while out on a walk and decided to grab some things The BbQ sauce with the cajun chicken wrap paired with fries has great flavor. The potato salad....thick and creamy, which is the side I live on! The plaintains were perfect. The portions are good I only ate half of everything except the fries. I will definitely return to try other things after my next fast. Blessings to the hands that served me today.

First time coming here. I’m not sure why it’s not more well known but either way I am already thinking of more reasons to come back to DC so I can eat here again. There’s only 2-3 tiny tables so I wouldn’t plan on eating inside. Large portions and cheaper than most places.
Fantastic vegan comfort food. Steak and cheese is too good.
I've been eating here a few times a year for 10+ years and the food has been delicious every single time.

This isn’t my first time having Senbeb cafe. It’s probably been over 10/15 times! lol.. soo, it’s safe to say it’s one of my go toos for a quick warm filling vegan meal. I will say, I unusually get the same things.. but I see other things being ordered!!
My buddy ordered the crab cakes (which I’ve never had) and he ATE EVERYTHING, left no crumbs… soo it must have been good!
