Buy the slice and pizzeria and it's really good. It was recently rated by an Italian website to be the number two by the slice pizzeria in the USA. It's not listed on top 50 of by the pie though. Also, very minimal seating, so it's more like a takeout place. I'm not sure how representative the Detroit square slice is because I've never had that before but the plain slice is really good and I tried their barbecue collaboration with a local barbecue restaurant, Federalist pig...Which is also good.

We got detroit, pepperoni, and the burrata. The sauce and cheese were ok. The bread was good initially but dried out quickly after reheating. The Detroit pizza was too sweet for our liking.

Come in once a week and the pizza is always great, but the hospitality is even better.
We were very sad about taking the time to visit here to be greeted when ordering by “what we have is what we have”. Especially since what they had was only 4 types of pizza. It was 7pm and its posted hours are far later than that. Would have gladly waited to try their pepperoni Detroit deep dish. But was sternly told that we could only select what was in the case. Very strange experience, especially in a late night pizza place that does by the slice.

The mushroom pizza with truffle is one of the best slices I ever had. it's a very large slice, a large pizza cut into six slices instead of eight..
I wanted to love this place because NYTimes told me that it was a place outside of NYC where you would get a NY slice, but I would say the pizza here is a far cry from NY pizza -- I'm not really sure how NYTimes of all places could make that comparison -- it really doesn't resemble NY pizza in any possible way. The place is a also a little dingy, and service wasn't the best. I give it 3 stars though because it's a least a slice shop in DC which there aren't many of, and it's good for late night eats due to the hours. But if you're looking for good pizza, and NY pizza at that, this is not the place for it. The pizza served its purpose for a late night snack, but it was not good.
