My family and I ate at the BluPig Barbecue & Blues Joint. It is a barbecue restaurant with a separate room that features a bar and live blues music.I admit that I am always nervous about trying barbecue in a town that caters primarily to visitors and not locals, so my wife, son and I were interested to give it a try.The Food:Appetizer -We started with wings and selected their KC-style barbecue sauce which is sweet. My son prefers ranch with his wings and my wife and I blue cheese, so the server was kind enough to bring us both, although we had to remind her to do so. I was surprised by how meaty the wings were and that they were not deep-fried but smoked and boy did the flavor come through.Entrees -My son had the pulled pork sandwich and asked for coleslaw as his side. The pulled port was tender, moist, flavorful and had a good, smokey flavor. The BluPig puts coleslaw on the sandwich of which he is not a big fan but that is a matter of personal preference. The coleslaw was flavorful and didn't suffer from too much vinegar which I have been finding far too often these days.My wife had the crispy chicken cobb salad which was excellent. The greens were good, tomatoes, egg, onion, were all very tasty as well as the abundance of deep-fried crispy chicken.I ordered the three-meat combination. I asked for brisket and tri-tip slices as well as 4 pork ribs. I ordered coleslaw and baked beans as my sides. The tri-tip slices were flavorful and moist as was the ribs. I wish the ribs were not quite so tender as I like a light tear when I am pulling the meat off the bone. Everything was moving along well and then I got to the brisket. While it had a beautiful smoke ring and a good flavor, it was tough and dry. As we were eating during dinner time, I would have expected the brisket to be moist and tender. If it was after 9pm, then I can accept a dryer, tougher slice of brisket, but not during peak dining hours. My baked beans were good but unfortunately, my serving of coleslaw, while it had a great flavor, was more soup or sauce then coleslaw.Service:While we were attended to regularly, we had to remind the server of our requests on two occasions. This being said, she did come by several times as well as the manager to make sure everything was to our liking. Conclusion:If you are looking for barbecue in Moab, you will have decent meal at BluPig and then when you are done eating, you can enjoy some good music in the bar. That being said, the BluPig has real potential and just needs a little more attention to detail to move from decent to very good. #BuenProvecho

I read the reviews and was hesitant to order because of the bad ones. I took a chance and ordered delivery anyway. Got the ribs and they were very good. So glad I didn't go with the bad reviews. I will definitely order again.

I ordered delivery. The food was terrible. The meat was burnt and cold. Not even edible. It definitely wasn't fresh. The Mac and cheese was greens were plain, no seasoning. The presentation was horrible, almost like they just threw the food on the plate. This was my first time trying this place and I will not order here again. This was a waste of money.

A great addition to H St. The food is delicious and cocktails are on point. The Mac & Cheese is bomb! The owner is an H St. Veteran that deserves to be celebrated for continuing to bring a vibe to NE DC. Try it! Bring your friends!Parking: DC parking meters

It is literally the best brisket I have ever eaten, great music, atmosphere, and servers. But the wait time was really, really long even though another customer was yellin' about their food, but it was more than worth it for the quality of the brisket. I will mention that the portion of food was small and left un satisfied, but I may have more of an appetite than other people.

Someone left a review and stated how they have never had to send back a whole plate of food. Let me be the second person that agrees with this statement because I almost did the same thing. Let's start with the hair in my canned beans. The beans were so basic they had to be from the can. Secondly the ribs were mixed old and maybe fresh mixed. There is no way my order of ribs were cooked that morning. Now I did not give my hairy beans back to the server because I just felt so disappointed that I just gave them that as a--it happens. After trying to eat old mixed with I assumed fresh ribs I was just done with this place. My lady got the brisket and man was it fatty and again not fresh. I've had Lewis Barbecue in Charleston SC so I know a good brisket. This food including the sides wouldn't cross the South Carolina border--just simply not edible barbecue. I mean to be a so called Chocolate City where's the excellent soul food? DC is a place where you can get drunk, lounge and talk who's who and all the federal jazz blah blah but when it comes to great street foods you'll be kind of left without and hungry. I live here in the immediate city of Alexandria Va so I know the area. Fine dining for sure but good soul food it's lacking baby. They even served this expensive dinner--55.00 plus automatic 18% gratuity with cheap plastic spoons dining in. I really felt bad for the family of five that sat down as I was leaving my entire plate almost untouched. The patron asked how's the food? If he was paying attention to all the food left behind he'd understand it was not good at all folks. H Streets has to have better venues than this place because this is not it. No pics I wouldn't want to misrepresent with pics that doesn't tell the true story of a lousy place to eat in DC. Do better

Was walking by as I have many of times before and Renee had some great music playing, and her fun vibe was clear from outside and thought this place looks like a fun place for a drink. Wasn’t wrong. Just made me a regular. Been looking for more places this welcoming and fun. While writing this say a group of tourists pop in that clearly got the same vibe that are having a blast.

My wife and I have been around the states on a trip for 5 weeks and this unfortunately was the worst meal and service we have had. The food was average, the meal came out wrong, with one whole side missed. The bartender started off strong, but was then distracted by talking to a woman from the time she walked in until she left. There was only four parties in the establishment and he never once asked if we were good for drinks or wanted more water, to the point I had to ask twice. Not service worthy of the automated 18% gratuity; although we did get one drink for free, for that I’m grateful. A lot of potential however the service and food needs to increase to realise how great they can be.
