Food was great! But the service is very poor. Prior to coming I placed an order for pick up over the phone, but once I got there I was told they didn’t have any order for me. So I had to have them make it and wait even longer. During this time the staff weren’t being friendly whatsoever. After receiving my food, I asked for spicy sauce, and asked for two. I was then yelled at and told I can only have one, even if I was paying for an extra one. Food was good, but the entire experience will not have me returning. If you love African food, but dislike poor service I wouldn’t suggest this place for you.

Most popular (and my favorite) place to eat during Capital Harvest on the Plaza. Very tasty food with generous salad portions.
I went with my friends and we ordered 3 red snappers with akeke and funny enough he overpriced us. There was no price on the red snapper and he gave us a bill of $158.99.

A couple of weeks ago, I visited this restaurant and was dissatisfied with the customer service and food. I heard great things about this restaurant so I couldn’t wait to try it. However, my experience didn’t match the excellent reviews and ratings. I treated my friend and I, he got the chicken sandwich and added shrimp but at the time we did not know this would be an additional $8 which is like buying two sandwiches. This was never disclosed. I was encouraged by the cashier/owner/ manager to get the jollof rice plate with chicken and sides which cost $25 excluding taxes and fees. I was excited as I have had jollof rice in the past and it was delicious. However, when I got my food the jollof rice was so spicy that I couldn’t enjoy it and that’s all I could taste. I know it should be some spice but not inedible. Alongside this, my chicken was dry. Therefore, I notified the cooks/manager that I couldn’t eat this meal and asked could I get the chicken sandwich as well for $14 excluding tax. The restaurant challenged this accommodation but later gave it to me after arguing with them for 15 mins. The owner/manager was unprofessional and nasty when speaking to me regarding this situation. He lacked customer service skills big time. I noticed this meal did not come with fries so I ask to add them since my original meal cost $25 excluding taxes. However, they refused to add the fries and explained that I should be appreciative that they even gave me the sandwich because they were losing money. This was upsetting as I never experienced this at any other restaurant before. So, they basically collected additional funds from me and I left extremely disappointed and dissatisfied.

The food is good and I’m sure people received good service before, but unfortunately the way I was treated was horrible. I don’t know if it was because my appearance but ethier way I should have been treated the same as the person that came before me. I was told to pay for my food upfront before I could get seated. When I sat down I wasn’t offered water and my food come as if I ask for my food to be to-go. To add on, the server brought the table beside bill as if they didn’t pay up front, so that made me even more frustrated on why I was being treated like This. Again I don’t if the server was having a bad day but that still is no exceptions and I’m sure no one else was treated like I was.

Restaurantji Recommends
Was fortunate to see their tent at the Capital Harvest at the Plaza. We tried the chicken kebab salad and beef kebab. Everything was so flavorful and FRESH! The salad was delicious. Even the bread is really good! And their portions are generous- especially on the salad. I highly recommend!

Excellent food - got the salad with chicken and the bread on the side was so soft and warm. Friendly staff helped us wipe pollen off the outside tables for seating!
I saw an employee wiping a take out box with a dirty wet scruffy rag from the sink. Very slow

I have order food with spicy water, on mutiple occasions when they were located at Eastern Market, the food was fresh and hot off of the grill. But the Owner or Manager not sure which title he hold, just know everyone who worked with him, confirmed special request before giving the customer a answer, he was very rude, his additude was nasty, and he seem very frustrating when ppl, approached him. Now back to the basic of my review. I order the chicken and jolof rice, with plantains. and pepper sauce on the side. The meal came very sloppy, the chicken was very small in size, and looked like they gave me the left over pieces that was all bone and no meat, the rice was hard and looked old, they didn't add the Pico de Gallo sauce, which comes with the meal. And they put the paper sauce on top of the rice, and that freaked me out because it was sauce, and they could have just put it in the bag, the container that the pepper sauce come in, is dirty iam sure that they put it on a hard surface, before putting the peppers in it. This restaurant is just open to drain you dry with their prices, and not produce the quality food that you are paying for. I referred mutilpe ppl, who wanted to try a African dish. They were disappointed as well. Because they mentioned that they are serving bones instead of chicken with meat. That they are charging you for. If I could I would rate this restaurant a ZERO. Very poor service and low quality food.

Great food, I enjoyed the snapper and the jollof rice is great! I would’ve expected to have slightly more plantains for the side but the food was tasty overall. I believe the more formal dining room is a floor above but we chose to sit outside.
