We really looked forward to our first visit at St. Anselm but left very disappointed unfortunately. The atmosphere, service and cocktails were all very good. The place was very busy with good energy but service was prompt and attentive. The sides (sweet potato, brussel sprouts) were nothing special though the biscuits were great. The downfall came when we ordered the axe handle steak which we requested medium temp. The steak was extremely disappointing. It came out rare, was chewy and extremely fatty/full of grizzle. Given the price ($340 for two of us) it was a huge let down .
Addendum: the manager reached out separately and was exceptionally understanding and appreciative of the feedback. Not only did they refund the full cost of our meal but they will be sending a gift card for us to come back!! I must say I have never experienced such impressive customer service. I am changing my rating because of this and look forward to giving St. Anselm another try!

Get the oysters, ribeye and mashed potatoes at least! The draft wine threw me off cause I’m not a fan of chilled red wine but overall a lovely experience and I would 100% come again.
Be warned: skip their cakes unless you enjoy dry ass (hefty though) slice of cake that is in desperate need a healthy dollop of ice cream (which is does not come with but honestly should)

The steak was WAY too salty. Almost inedible. Everything else was fine, but I’d call this restaurant nothing special to be honest.

First time here and I love it. The vibe is vintage, the food is awesome. The guy that serve my table is really nice, he perfectly course out the food for us and really hostile.

Amazing Date Night!
Had an incredible date night at St. Anselm last Friday. The rustic ambiance was beautiful and romantic, perfect for the occasion.
Our server Denali was fantastic—great recommendations and such a positive attitude that really enhanced our experience. The drinks were delicious, and the duck pot pie was to die for. OMG, seriously amazing!
For dessert, we got creative and ordered two of their biscuits to make our own creation with chocolate syrup, honey, and ice cream. The biscuits are perfection—soft, buttery, and flaky.
Everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food was outstanding. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back!

This place was packed on a Thursday night with good reason— the steaks were superb. We ordered the 32-oz Prime T-Bone, the 16-oz Ribeye, and the Pork Porterhouse and they were beautiful— perfectly grilled and succulent and flavorful. You’ll also be glad to get the Baby Iceberg salad for starters as it came with heritage bacon that’s so good, as well as the especially tasty Crispy Pig Head Croquette. Overall a most happy meal.

St. Anselm is an American steakhouse/tavern that serves delicious steaks and comforting dishes in a relaxed setting.
THE MEAL
🥮 Biscuits & Pimento: These were amazing. The biscuits have a crisp, crunchy crust protecting a decadent, soft crumb. The pimento cheese adds great creaminess, but, the side of salted Vermont butter elevated them even further.
🥩 The Steaks:
• Butcher's Cut (Hanger Steak): Served medium rare with an excellent sear. Tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
• New York Strip: Robust beef flavor with perfectly seared fat.
• Lamb Leg: Cooked nicely to medium rare, though the pickled pepper relish was a bit overpowering. Tip: We used the onion cream sauce from the Baby Carrots dish to balance the relish.
SIDES & SWEETS
• Savory: The Baby Carrots (on that tasty onion cream) and the Thick-Cut Grilled Bacon were standouts. The bacon had a nice richness without being too heavy.
• Sweet: Do not skip dessert. The Carrot Cake was incredibly moist, and the Toasted Marshmallow Ice Cream was a memorable finish.
SERVICE
⭐ Special thanks to Abi for the warm, professional service. She understood the food and wine menu inside and out.

We had a great experience here and were able to get a Table for 2 on a Friday night with no reservation. The celery root steak was amazing once again and my friend loved the chicken dish she tried. The buttermilk biscuits, roasted sweet potato and steak fries were also great sides for us.

St. Anselm is a gem. The duck pot pie, biscuits, and steaks are all phenomenal, and the cozy, lively atmosphere makes every visit feel special. But what truly makes us come back is Hannah—her warmth, attentiveness, and genuine friendliness turned us into regulars. It honestly wouldn’t be the same without her

What a gem of a place. Outstanding food and service with a laid back vibe and casual energy. Not your old school steakhouse in the best way.

OK food. Limited menu. From the moment we sat down, I felt the waiter was too interested in upselling us. Pleasant atmosphere—to be expected from a Starr restaurant—but ultimately, a disappointing experience. Union Market has transformed into too many staged authentic restaurant experiences where the food is secondary
