Milestone birthday celebration here April 18. Had reservations and server clearly knew it was my birthday. Service, as someone else pointed out in another review, was glacially slow. Matter of fact, another server had to bring our food to the table an hour and 15 minutes after we ordered. The server never checked on our drinks, and forgot my birthday. I saw other tables getting champagne compliments of the house, but not us. When my family reminded him of my birthday, he finally brought a candle with the mint squares, but dropped the candle and fumbled barehanded trying to get it out from between the mints. For a dinner that was $500 for four people, I expected much better service. Was a very disappointing experience for my 60th birthday.

I'm a regular here, and while the service staff is largely great and there are a couple of delicious items on the menu, I've had enough with the mediocrity of everything else.
The menu is exceptionally difficult for solo diners. They need more options for a decent meal without spending a fortune on (shareable) sides and large cuts of meat.
They got rid of their best salad on the menu. Why?
Their WiFi service barely and inconsistently works. Union Market is a known black hole for cell service. They are nearly always busy, even on a Tuesday, like today. Fork up the trivial extra cash for a reliable WiFi network that guests can use.
The WiFi was down tonight. I asked the host about it while I was waiting on a bar seat. Twice. And then I asked a different host 20 minutes later. The WiFi network never worked during my hour there, and neither of them got back to me. It's exceptionally rude not to follow up.
When I let them know that on the way out, one host replied with "I do apologize" --- snarky, devoid-of-empathy, "I'm saying this because I've been trained to and not because I care at all about your experience." I'm not here for half-hearted (or zero-hearted) lines parroted from a customer-service book. And neither are my hundreds of dollars a month.
Do better.

Incredible service from the waiter. Very knowledgeable, gregarious, and looking for every way he can go above and beyond. The axe handle steak was an incredible cut of meat, and cooked to a great rare with an impeccably flavored crust. Deviled eggs were amazing and we will definitely make a return to try the biscuits!

Mt favorite place in DC. Always stop bt when i am in town. Steak and buscuits are perfect everytime. The oysters were perfectly prepared , great beer and wine selections. I will be back!

My sister and her friend went there yesterday and ordered the Butcher's Steak medium rare. She eats medium rare steak all the time. When she got the steak, she thought it was a little more rare than usual however, given that St. Anselm is known for their high-quality meats she didn't give it much thought. Flash forward to today, my sister is extremely sick and has the worst food poisoning she's ever experienced. Beware...

We came here for brunch and the food is amazing. We got the biscuits which are insane! A must try and my favorite item. We also got the cheeseburger, the salmon collar, steak and eggs and the French toast. Everything was amazing. The steak and eggs were smaller than I expected. Definitely quality over quantity. The salmon collar was exceptional. The cheeseburger was juicy and cooked to perfection. It does have a lot of raw onion so I would skip if you aren't a fan of onions or you can get them removed. The French toast was good but the least impressive out of everything we got. We will be back for dinner.

When for dinner with friends what a lovely evening from the beginning to the end Jackson was awesome He was very knowledgeable about the whole menu food and wine . I’m definitely going back The only thing was parking not easy !!!

Very loud and difficult to carry a conversation. Had brunch steak and eggs, below my expectations. Deviled eggs were nice to start the brunch. Butcher steak was prepared to terms, however both sauce and steak were bland in taste. Sunny side up eggs were more over easy. Hash browns were pancake shaped potatoes deep fried and lacked taste from all the grease. Slow service. Cheeseburger was good and simple, fries were a bit undercooked.
