I’ve been a loyal customer for over 13 years, and Starbucks has truly been a joy in starting my mornings on the right note. Throughout my career, I moved frequently and visited many Starbucks locations across the country. No matter where I went, I always felt confident in the quality and service.
Now I’ve settled in Washington, DC and unfortunately my experience has been disappointing.
At the Harris Teeter location, I’ve often found them either closed during posted business hours (6 a.m. to 9 p.m.) or out of key items I regularly order. Because of this, I started going to the New Jersey Ave location instead. However, I’ve consistently had issues there as well. On six different occasions, my drink orders have been prepared incorrectly. While I always try to kindly ask for corrections, I’m usually met with frustration from staff, which I understand given the rush hour pace - but the accuracy concerns remain. For example, today I ordered a Chai Pumpkin Latte with cold foam, and what I received was completely different.
I don’t enjoy having to raise concerns, but I feel this has gone on long enough. I know mistakes happen, but the pattern here makes it difficult to rely on either locations.
If I could rate this establishment at a -1 I would. I have never been in an establishment where the Manager is just so rude and nasty. She does not speak. Leadership sets the tone of the employees which is why there are so many comments about rude employees. She will speak to all other customers, however I looked her right in her eyes and said Hello just for her to turn her head in the other direction. At first I thought it was me, however this has happened on multiple occasions. I actually watched Ashley welcome other guests and blatantly ignored me each time. Why the discrimination?
The service and atmosphere is weird and makes me very uncomfortable.

Bought a coffee, it was good but wanted more sugar or sweetener, I very kindly asked one of the baristas if they have sugar, the barista seemed super offended and asked what’s wrong with my coffee, he refused to give me a sugar packet; he kept asking what’s wrong with my drink and said a sugar packet wouldn’t make it better, he had a bad attitude and kept shaking his head. I’ve never heard of a coffee place that gets offended when asked for a sugar packet. I avoid this location now.

I get coffee for my coworkers here almost EVERYDAY. After work today I needed to use the restroom and it was on my way to the metro. The worker refused saying i had to buy something. Treated me like a homeless dirtbag although im a professional and carry myself as such.
The coworkers will have to get their coffee somewhere else going forward.

I’ve been patronizing this Starbucks weekly for the past few months and I’m sad to say that from today I will no longer be a customer. In the past few months I’ve been purchasing the same drink: an iced lavender matcha latte.
Today, I allotted myself enough time to leave my office, grab a drink, and head back with ample time remaining before my meeting. When I got up to the register, the person taking my order was completely distracted. She got my order wrong and I only discovered this after receiving the first wrong drink (I didn’t ask for a receipt). I notified the young woman who took my order that my drink was wrong and she spoke with another barista to make my drink which was wrong AGAIN. She then proceeds to tell me that I gave her the wrong drink order, which I did not. She explains to a barista, Don/Dom (?), that I gave her the wrong drink order and I no longer wanted it, making it seem like I’m at fault. He eventually steps in and makes a THIRD drink for me which was honestly subpar but I appreciate him trying. I received no apology for the errors/delay.
Again, as I mentioned earlier, I order this drink all the time (at various locations) so I know how I like it. It didn’t taste like how I usually get it and I was highly disappointed. Moreover, the lack of accountability was unacceptable. I had to sprint back to the office in this atrocious weather so I can make it in time for my meeting.

6/23/25 - Service was great. They were quick and efficient. They had so many orders ready to go at the pick up spot. My drink was made to order along with the pastry item I got.

Very rude employees, I repeated my order 4 times they still got it wrong and is not a hard order. Just a white mocha, nothing else. I told them they got me the wrong thing and the guy Savion was very rude about it.

I went into this Starbucks on June 28th around 5:08 pm. Mind you I come to this Starbucks often when I'm in the area. I'm a master aestheician. Well I came in here to ask for a cup of water. It's very hot. The lady proceeds to tell me that I needed to purchase for a cup of WATER. which is FREE. She said water is not free. I said when did that change in Starbucks. She really focused to give me water. I'm in my full medical scrubs. Other customers even looked puzzled at her comment. She said THAT STARBUCKS CAN NOT GIVE OUT CUPS OF WATER UNLESS YOU PURCHASE.
I WOULD NEVER SPEND IN ANOTHER STARBUCKS AGAIN. ESPECIALLY NOT THIS ONE. AND I WILL STOP MY CLIENTS AND COWORKERS FROM COMING HERE AS WELL. FOR A CUP OF WATER!?? WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING HERE. I HAVE DELETED MY STARBUCKS APP AND CONTACTED CORPORATE. DISGRACE!!!
This location was out of Iced Coffee and was cleaning their machines at 3pm on a hot Tuesday afternoon. Their only outlets, located in the middle of a high-top bar area facing the windows, were turned off, making it impossible to charge my phone. Wifi was functional. There are a couple of low tables and also some outdoor seating.

The baristas got our order wrong, also very unprofessional with their arguing back and forth with each other. The manager of the shift has to correct them often and force them to do their job.

It's 449pm and me and my daughter comes to this location at least 3 times a week to purchase a snack before getting on the commuter bus to head home after a long workday. Whoever make to there first will treat. But today we were asked by the obese uncomfortable looking lady if we were making a purchase. We was not the only people but it was non melanin folks in there as well but I guess my natural hair stood out. Before we board our bus, my daughter decided to go back in to get her receipt. We decided that we can wait until we get home. BTW we were not the only patrons sitting at the window. The camera should show
(To prefrance, i’m black) Was waiting for 10 minutes and no one spoke to me. A group of white woman came in and were greeted/orders taken instantly. I felt feeling genuinely sad and with no order. never left a review before but that terrible experience justifies one.
