I would like to start off my stating I have been a Starbucks customer for about 20 years . I average about 300 a month at Starbucks! Since I have Starbucks everyday. I have been coming to this location daily for about a year and half. I baristas are typically friendly, fast and efficient. I typically don’t have any issues at this location however today was a different story. I typically come in the morning however this evening I came in to get a cup of water since I was feeling an extremely dehydrated and little ill due to new medication. When I walked in the barista greeted me and offered to get a drink started for me, I informed her that I would like a cup of water please . The lady said sure and was able to make me a cup of water ; then a more senior barista stepped in and said no we can’t give anyone a cup of water unless they purchase something . I informed the lady that I purchased something earlier today and could show proof of receipt. She informed me that I only can get water at a time of purchase. I really didn’t wanna go back and forth over “water” , and didn’t want to even spend a penny at a place that doesn’t give someone water. Which is something a human needs daily to survive. I truly will never go back to this location to spend a dime. I understand this maybe a new policy set by Starbucks so I can’t 100% fault the barista other than the fact that she see me there daily and I have gotten water for there before without an issue. Because this new policy is not favorable and distasteful. Starbucks has truly lost a customer!

I have been coming here for at least about 3 years Donald who is one of the cashiers is great very engaging, personable, friendly. However I have an issue with most of the female baristas every time And I only get two pumps of different flavorings but if they're rushed and it's not full pumps and I can taste the difference there's always a bit of an attitude and once I was told by I guess a manager who was a female that if they continue to add additional pumps they would have to charge me more, which my response was I don't need you to add more I just needed to be made the correct way and at that point I just asked for it to be remade That was a year or so ago but since then I still have reservations going to this location because each time there's no smiles from many of the ladies. However the young male baristas don't give too much push back if I offer suggestions on how to make it right the first time. There are times that I've left with whatever was made, but I was unhappy about it however going for it I've stopped doing that because I realized I'm paying almost $7 for a cup of coffee and it should be made the right way. I remember when Starbucks employees were in line with that of Chick-fil-A employees, but however out of most of the Starbucks locations with the exception of Tysons Corner at the greenboro location, and Arlington at the Pentagon Mall location near Fern Street, many of the employees do not carry the same smile Oh I must also mention that 15th Street Northwest the employees to great especially Tanya, and The gentleman who work at the wharf, again for whatever reason the female baristas don't always smile however there is a new female cashier who is very young and friendly.

Drop in morale or if it's just personality and Starbucks not enforcing employee demeanor and maybe this is the type of managers that are being hired as well.

Before I get in to the meat and potatoes of the review. I want to say that the customer service was excellent, welcoming, and just down right friendly. They were helpful with any questions that I had. Now the food was good and coffee well that was ok too. But I was a little disappointed for Starbucks to call this location a reserve. I have been to all US Starbucks Reserve locations and this one disappoints so much. Especially compared to NY and Chicago.

Fantastic experience at Starbucks Reserve in DC! The coffee was absolutely amazing—rich, flavorful, and perfectly crafted. The attention and service from the staff were excellent, making the visit even more enjoyable. A great spot to relax and enjoy top-quality coffee in the heart of the city. Highly recommended!

This review is for the Starbucks at Grand Hyatt Washington in DC: We ordered two coffees at this Starbucks and my wife could not read what they scribbled on her cup. She wanted to make sure that it was her cup so she asked one of the baristas. My wife asked in a nice way with a smile. She told my wife it said “smile.” The barista then mumbled “stupid” under their breath and laughed. Another barista also laughed at her comment. My wife heard and saw what they did and complained to the manager named Rachel. However no one in the shop wore name tags, which I’m assuming is not company policy. The manager said, “ No, no, no. Are you serious?” My wife tried to explain what happened and pointed to the two baristas. The manager thought my wife was crazy and showed her the way out. She said her name was Rachel and please leave a review, as she kicked us out. Ironically, Rachel appeared to be Indian, or South Asian. Not only was the staff rude but the manager did not know how to handle an insulted customer. I’m not embellishing, this is literally what happened. My wife and I are Asian American and perhaps this was racial prejudice. The Barista who insulted my wife was an African American woman and the other who laughed was a Hispanic appearing male. To be honest this is not the first time we experienced staff with an air of superiority at Starbucks. They often look at you not as a customer but as a nuisance. They need to do a better job training the staff in common courtesy! I am Chinese and my wife is Korean. I speak perfect English, grew up in the US, and am a highly educated professional. If they look down on me, think of how they look down on other Asian Americans. To other Asian American customers: Don’t take this kind of treatment lying down!

We have spent the last couple of days here for lunch while at a conference. The drinks are always on point. I decided to try something new and had their Jalapeno Chicken Pocket… I’ve gotta say, pretty good and filling for only 200 calories. The staff is super friendly and efficient. Word of advice for you, use the app to order and avoid the long line.

Stayed at the hotel, and grabbed a coffee at check-out. The folks behind the counter were just super nice, and their energy just made my day brighter.
