Absolutely incredible sushi, great service, and very cozy, intimate atmosphere that I don't think can be beat.

Every preparation was outstanding and a good mix of traditional and modern, each playing to the strengths of the fish.

My only regret is not ordering more when offered. I'm very much looking forward to the next time I can visit.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. This restaurant ripped me off. I accidentally made a dine in reservation for 2 thinking this place was located in Charleston, sc. I paid for the meal upfront since that was what they demanded. When I realized that I made an incorrect reservation, I cancelled it within 3 minutes. I emailed them letting them know that the reservation was made in error. They have refused to refund my money. I have had to go through my credit card company to retrieve my money. It has been over 6 weeks.

The restaurant’s action speaks volumes about the ethics of this establishment. They are thieves. BE VERY WARY WHEN DEALING WITH THESE PEOPLE.

I reserved omakase through Resy. My husband and I got seated right when we arrived. Our lunch omakase had 10 pieces and we ordered a la carte because the skip jack and uni were so delicious. Each fish was so flavorful and the texture was perfect. I will definitely be back for their dinner omakase one day. The Brooklyn Kura sake paired well with the fish.

Locals here are fortunate to have sushi snob. This is your high end omakase inside the local Japanese restaurant. The select pieces come from all over the world. The techniques are executed from years of experience serving. But the value is for the people. The 55$ ten piece omakase feels like I just robbed the place. But as I sat at the counter, I can see what this place meant.

We are greeted warmly by the host even though outside felt like 30 degrees. At the counter, Chef Tugu and Chef Jango introduced themselves. As I waited for the omakase to begin, I over hear the Chef talk to the other patrons about food and work. Another patron walks in and gives chef a hug and they chat for a bit before they take their to go order out. I appreciate and respect the small town feel here. They are more than chefs. They are locals as well.

Each piece had its own unique twist. Tamago with sweet dash. Skip jack with a chive paste. Otoro marinated in white wine and soy sauce. Salmon from Denmark. Fresh water eel with a sweet soy sauce. Triple A grade Hokkaido Uni. Every piece is a work of art with a story.

Chef had a lot of stories to tell as well. His beginnings in LA to moving to the east coast, and going to NYC often to get Korean food. Chef is well traveled and is motivated by his craft

I highly recommend this place. It will be an amazing experience. Chef also recommended to follow their instagram for special events. They had a salmon tasting recently where they served five different salmons from around the world! And the 55$ ten piece omakase is an amazing deal. In this economy, it is well worth your hard earned money for a luxury that can be afforded.

I came in for the lunch omakase, and left having enjoyed one of the top dining experiences of my life. The chef and sommelier exposed me to tremendous knowledge and technique. The freshness of their product was life affirming. Come here to have your mind and palate expanded.

A very modest space on M St NW, but the food and personality were above and beyond. The omakase & sushi set for dinner is pricy, but it was a worthy experience. I dined solo, and the team behind the counter were engaging with all eleven diners; I had a lot of fun conversations. Sushi and sake curation were perfect and apparently can change daily and seasonally. Bravo!

Insane value for Omakase. We had the lunch Omakase and were very impressed by the quality and the craftsmanship on both the food & beverage there. If you know, you know.

Lunch omakase was an incredible 30 min experience! 10 pieces of very high quality sushi. Staff were quick, friendly, and knowledgeable, they offered insight about each piece like where it's sourced and characteristics that make it stand out.

Even though it's cheap, the quality of sushi is comparable to some of the high end restaurants in DC!

Looooove this place! It’s very unassuming but I love the no frills air about it, they’re just focused on food and great service. I’ve been here twice for lunch omakase and it’s my favorite in the city. The chef’s selections/creations are so inventive and delicious.

The service is great and the 10 piece lunch omakase is beyond! I saw multiple people making the next reservation at the end of the meal. It is THAT good. Best sushi option in the area. You have to make a reservation for the omakase!

10/10, no notes. Brian and Chef Jango were phenomenal. Chef Jango prepared each piece of sushi with skill, while Brian explained the ingredients and techniques along with his exquisite curation of drinks.
It was such an experience filled with their expertise and genuine love for their craft that we made another reservation before we left.

Absolutely amazing.
-
I went here after a job acceptance and got the chef's selection special thing (I cannot remember the name unfortunately) but it was absolutely stellar.
I brought some art supplies and relaxed while I ate delicious food like Miso, and well prepared sashimi.
The waitress/hostess seemed to be a bit new, but I completely understand.
The place is a bit small though so I don't reccomend talking politics or anything private as it's very likely someone could accidentally eavesdrop. (Like me, unfortunately hearing about a man's family disasters.)
-
Definitely take your time here if you do eat, savor the flavors and get chef reccomendations, also try the seabream! It's phenomenal and my new favorite fish.
