I've been wanting, needing, and missing good Trinidadian food since I moved from Brooklyn and finally I had my tastebuds satisfied (sorry no pictures). The menu was absolutely stacked with everything you'd ever want from a trini spot; doubles, aloo pie, phlourie, bakes, sorrel, rotis done with all the curried meats-goat, chicken, shrimp etc. I knew I had to have a curry chicken roti with extra pepper and tamarind and then a couple of doubles with the same. These were not the best doubles I've had but I've had some phenomenal doubles back in my Brooklyn days but these were good enough to satisfy me. The roti, though not with boneless chicken, (perhaps I'm bougie or have been spoiled) was really good though. Now that I know this place is up there, I'll likely try to find my way back for another visit. I want to run through more of the menu and maybe even check out some of the vegetarian/vegan options as well. Service was pleasant and the wait time was pretty standard.

Customer service is terrible. Food is mid. Have to wait all day then they say they are out of what you want. Worst Caribbean food in DC.

What a horrible experience! They have no customer service skills and the doubles- Bara good but dam the channa... it tasted borderline spoil. This was an EPIC fail for us. Coming from the Caribbean how nice would it be to walk in to a home restaurant and feel welcomed and proud to be there and support but the feeling was more like gosh you is a bother to me doh come back. Take some pride in how you present yourself especially when representing Trinidad, with that trini flag on your sign... shameful....

Hmmm. Well, where to start. Initially, just walking in, it felt like home. The friendly Trini greetings and sweet soca playing. Then the food was a trip back home. The portions were huge. The dhalpourie was soft and tasted great. The curry chicken and stewed chicken were both perfectly cooked. The highlight was the pepper sauce, which to me wasn't too hot but really really tasty. Also after our stay even though they do polourie on Friday and Saturday, we were given complimentary polourie which when paired with the tamarind (tambran)sauce was heavenly. We had a really great experience with really enjoyable ppl. Great food, great taste, wonderful place.

They rotate out certain dishes. It happened to be the two dishes I wanted most. The patties were good. Jerk chicken and sides were seasoned well. I'd go back.
