Sushi Hachi is the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to; it was so good that my boyfriend and I went back two nights in a row. Their cocktails are great, and my personal favourite was the 8th street specialty sushi. The atmosphere and mood is calm and pleasant, and the staff and service is top notch. I have to mention our waitress too from the second time, Soko. She remembered us from the previous night, she even remembered which drink she had made me! And she took the time to make some recommendations for us, and brought us some miso on the house and was just the most pleasant and friendly waitress I have had in a while. Thank you!!! We will definitely be back again for as long as we are in/near DC.

Sushi Hachi is a phenomenal addition to Barracks Row! My first course was their staple seaweed salad and their unique and flavorful ceviche — of which I can't get enough! For my main course I had the spicy tuna roll and the yellowtail scallion roll. The latter I had without the jalapeño ponzu for a cleaner, perfect meal. Not sure what I enjoyed more! The restaurant and service are all delivered with a home style warmth and kind focus! Diego was a superb server and consistently checked with me and everyone else. The managers both stopped by to recognize and welcome me back after the government shutdown. Odd to describe a sushi restaurant as homey, buy Sushi Hachi is very much my home restaurant! Going there alone can make it seem colder, but it was not so for a single moment. Absolutely a triumph all around!!

A great sushi experience is defined by two things: the quality of the fish and the seamlessness of the service. Sushi Hachi, nestled in the historic Barracks Row area of DC, delivers both in spectacular fashion, confirming its status as a must-visit destination for Japanese cuisine. Our recent dinner here was nothing short of excellent. From the moment we were seated, the service was truly exemplary. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and perfectly attentive—the definition of professionalism. They offered insightful recommendations without being pushy and ensured our water glasses were never empty, creating a dining environment that felt both relaxed and pampered. The entire team operated with a smooth, synchronized efficiency that elevated the whole evening. The food itself was a beautiful study in simplicity and flavor. Sushi Hachi steers away from overly complicated rolls, instead letting the quality of their ingredients shine. We started with the Shrimp Tempura, fried to a perfect, non-greasy crisp. For our main courses, the Chirashi Bowl was a standout. Each piece of fish—from the rich, buttery uni to the subtly accented mackerel —was impeccably fresh, with the fish portions generously sitting over perfectly seasoned rice. The true highlight for an interactive and flavorful experience was the Prime Beef Ishiyaki. Served on a searing hot stone, the thin slices of high-quality beef cooked tableside, allowing us to control the exact doneness and dip each tender piece into a choice of sauces, including truffle salt and daikon-ponzu. Sushi Hachi manages to blend a warm, modern aesthetic with a focus on traditional, high-quality Japanese preparation. If you are looking for an exceptional dinner where the food is spectacular and the staff like a valued guest, this Eastern Market gem should be at the very top of your list.

My favorite Sushi restaurant. Very good sushi with reasonable price. The lunch set menues are super. The chicken cutlet is also very good.

Sushi Hachi has become one of my favorite restaurants in the 4 years I've lived in DC. Their chef tasting menus are such steals and the whole menu is delicious and affordable. Not to mention the drinks are delicious

Wanted to shoutout Leo. He’s not our server but he was so sweet to my 9 month old baby daughter, he gave her a bowl of steamed vegetables we didn’t even ask for. Wow you are such an angel. Thank you thank you!

The food and service were fantastic. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. The server (forget her name unfortunately) was very attentive and super knowledgeable. we were surprised with a birthday dessert. impressive use of open table as my birthday was 2 days prior. Will definately be back. The prices are really quite affordable.

Tried Lunch Combo #1 at Sushi Hachi and it totally hit the spot.
It includes your choice of miso soup or edamame, plus one classic roll and one special roll of your choice. I picked miso soup, a spicy tuna roll, and the Capitol Roll-everything was super fresh and flavorful.
The portion size was generous, and the presentation was beautiful. The miso soup was warm and comforting, and both rolls were well-balanced, with fresh fish and just the right amount of rice. I was full, happy, and didn't feel like I overpaid at all-great lunch deal for the quality you get.
The vibe inside is relaxed and clean, perfect for a quick solo lunch or casual meetup. Highly recommend this spot if you're in DC and want a quality sushi lunch that won't break the bank.

The lunch special is $15 for 1 basic roll and 1/2 special roll and miso or edemame. Worth it. Good for nice people. Would come back. Soko gave great recommendations.
