This Cafe is located in the lower level of the African-American History Museum. I ventured here in the interest of time because I really wanted to explore this Cafe before the museum closed, as did a lot of other patrons. The line was long but it moved along. They have a plethora of food options here. I opted for the fried buttermilk chicken, mac and chese, potatoe salad, sweet potatoe and 3 layer chocolate cake. My total was $40. Nice eating area. Food looks amazing & taste mediocre. I noticed the restaurant is in partnership with Kaiser Permanente, a health care provider, hence this may be why there seems to be a lack of seasoning to me. I had a side combo plate. Upon entry, two of the employees were shouting to folks that they have multiple food stations....not in rude manner, but shouted at me the same message, though I was at the food station which I intended...the soul food sides...so I thought...
Have visited the museum several times and never eaten in the cafe. Decided to try it for lunch, and while it’s not Ohhs & Ahhs or the church ran kitchen on Florida, the food is decent. It’s an experience to have an enjoy at least once. Be sure to grab a slice of pie. It was amazing.
