So I originally gave this restaurant 5 stars!I had to go back after a few more visits and redo my review ,while the food is 5 star I must say the service of the help staff is horrible ,the owner not included. He is the only reason I will patronize this Buisness. Every time I go in there I feel as if the female staff are giving off nasty attitudes and halfway making plates .I have so much more to say but I will leave it there .

I only order Peanut stew so that is the only thing I can actually attest to, which is pretty good. I have gone several times because I cant find authentic African food in my area. So I take a little ride to get food. When the owner/cook is there, he is always pleasant and welcoming, but he no longer comes in to the H street location, or at least not when I am there. Because I come the distance, I always ask for extra rice and meat, no veggies, and I will pay for the extra! You have to get ghetto with them for them to do it! Like wth! The women have the worse attitudes and it takes all of my hard healing not to lose my cool with them. They are rude! And I will not be returning or sending another customer there. 2 friends of mine had the same experience on 2 separate occasions after I raved about this place. It is very disheartening because I like to patronize black owned establishment, but only if they fully have a business mindset. I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt because of the location and cultural differences, but no they have bad energy and spirits running through that place and I dont want that on or near my food.

The food is spicy but still tasty, over priced for 5 pieces of curried chicken. They never have any beef patties, they’re always running out. Today was the last time they will get my service, Negril Jamaican Cuisine is much better, they give you more chicken and it’s not spicy. Negril always have beef patties, plus coco and Toto bread and desserts much more variety.

The wait is ridiculous they are not organize they have 1 person taken orders I waited for 30mins just to get food that is À la cart. I tired to call to place my order BEFORE I arrived but then they informed me that they do not take orders over the phone. This is unprofessional.

The best Jamaican spot I’ve been to in the states! The food was flavoral and delicious. The jerk chicken with the added sauce was amazing! It reminded me of the food from Jerk Center in Jamaica. The portions were plenty and they didn’t skimp! The lady working was very courteous and helpful. She offered us a taste sample of our entrees we ordered (curry goat, curry chicken, and jerk chicken), because some first-timers in the past said it was too spicy. After tasting the curry goat we told her we didn’t need to taste anymore as it was perfect for us. I also let her know my family was from Jamaica so we were used to the spicy. We had a great first time experience here and will be coming back to try the oxtail, and continue coming for my Jamaican food fix!

So here we go again, supporting this black business and keep even stay open until their schedule time. So it's 830pm, and of course, everything was put away and getting washed. So when asked were you guys closed, they looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language and didn't say anything but packing up their bowls. So I stood there for about 3-5 minutes, and she still didn't say anything until I was about to walk out. Do better.

I stopped by on Friday on my way home from work and wanted to taste test the jerk chicken but they didn't have it on the menu so I ordered curry chicken which they let me taste first...I noticed it wasn't as spicy as before and the young lady confirmed they reduced the spice level because too many people were complaining. The curry chicken is still good tho even though its not as spicy as before but still has a slight kick. If you are a police officer in uniform, I think they eat for free whereas civilian employees with the police department will get a small discount so bring your work ID!

Everything is nice to be Honest you don’t like too much spice then this not a place for you everthing i tried outta here is very spicy ?️ but i love spice so it’s not bad S/O to the chef i just fill like they should give spice options instead, like ask the customer what level of spice they prefer because everybody don’t like spicy but its African food/ Jamaican.
