Our group was visiting from out of town and wanted to find a coffee shop within walking distance from our airbnb.
We saw the great reviews for Sylvan cafe and decided to stop in.
I got a Chai latte and veggie omelet which were affordable and very tasty! I’d highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area

Be prepared to wait 35 minutes for a simple omelette that you will then have to return because they got the order wrong.

The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. The atmosphere had such a good vibe, relaxed but lively, with slow background songs that set the perfect mood for enjoying a meal. Definitely a place I’ll come back to! Best in the DMV area

Cute little coffee shop with great snacks like bagels and croissants and samosas. Also offers Ethiopian food from 3:00 p.m. onwards. But the coffee shop itself is fabulous.

Very good coffee and decent enough bagels for DC. Love the atmosphere, cute patio and lots of seating

Amazing food with great flavor. I’ve been many times with my partner and everything we’ve bought has been absolutely delicious - you can’t go wrong. Plus the atmosphere is so lovely, not to mention how kind everyone is. This cafe is definitely a neighborhood staple!

This Ethiopian spot is a total gem! The flavors are out of this world seriously, each dish is like a flavor explosion. The injera is perfectly tangy and soft, and the stews are rich and deeply satisfying. The atmosphere is super cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect place for a chill night out with friends. And the service? Top-notch! Everyone is so friendly and helpful if you're looking for authentic Ethiopian food that will blow your mind, this is the place to be

What an amazing place for a late lunch! It’s the best Ethiopian food in the DMV area. We had the siga kitfo (amazing!), siga tibs with the tomato salad. Beautiful outdoor seating and cozy indoor options—we sat outside on this nice weather day. I am definitely going to be a regular! Highly recommend thank me later;)

Poor services, milk containers for coffee were literally bottom of the barrel when asked to fill. Cashier manager ignored completely and was disrespectful inconsiderate and rude.didn’t give me a plate to dine in when after giving her a tip. I’ll most likely go here if really have to or just a meet up point next time.

The vibe is lovely, and the staff are incredibly nice. The building has a vibrant history that lives on in the cafe. I enjoy going here in the late morning to grab a bite and some coffee.

Cool Sylvan sign outside. Quiet, neighborhood coffee shop. Good drip coffee. Reasonably priced. Fine bacon, egg, and cheese bagel breakfast sandwich. Quick service. Went twice.
