The staff were kind, the Cafe had a piano to play and I played it witch was really nice for my morning.
Food was affordable same with coffee.
More affordable than Ithaca.

Needs to be renamed Human Error Cafe. The product is *usually* ok but the service is garbage. Want your bagel extra toasted? No shot, will come lightly toasted and soft/chewy. Online ordered a limited-availability item 20 min before arriving? Doesn’t matter, you’ll stand in line and watch them give the last one away to someone ahead of you because they don’t prepare online orders early or have a dedicated order pickup spot. Forgetting an item in your bag is always a possibility. Just walk down to Big Bear… same expensive coffee shop, only with the service part figured out a bit better (and a farmers market right outside on Sundays).

Cosy vibes and a lovely place to sit quietly and work. An ideal spot for writing too with some great coffee and croissants to go along with it.

Ordered bacon egg & cheese on white toast and ice coffee it came out to $14 that is ridiculous! Coffee was not good the sandwich was !On top of that I asked for napkins and was ignored until I started to walk out then she wants to try and give me some it’s common sense to give me some if I ordered food ! Never going back!

We are lunch here and loved it! Great food and service! The staff was so friendly and even fended off a very unreasonable customer in a polite way, with a smile. Would highly recommend!

This place must pay for reviews because I just had the WORST everything bagel. I could get a better bagel by toasting a generic brand bagel at home. Way too expensive. I don’t understand DC. This place feels like a expensive simulation

They have a gluten free bagel that was pretty good! Not a big fluffy bagel but thr flavor was good. I asked if it was toasted on the same spot as the normal bagels and she told me it's toasted in a bag. The chai was alright, a little sweet for my taste.

Dietary restrictions: Gluten free bagel

Sylvan cafe just redid the whole interior and it is now a charming cafe that holds reminiscent nods to its vintage theatre roots. This now is a cafe that I want to spend more time in!

Sylvan got a fabulous makeover! This has been my neighborhood coffee spot for breakfast and lunch sandwiches for years. I always thought it had the potential and space to be a proper cafe where you could meet up or work, but the layout wasn’t conducive. Well, their complete renovation turned out amazing! Looks like they also expanded the sandwiches and Ethiopian menu also, and extended hours from 2pm to 4pm ❤️ Now, if they only brought back the fresh baguettes and bread loaves it would be perfect.
