Attended their first festival in Howard County and it was a train wreck. None of the food was ready when we arrived at 1. We waited an hour and a half and some of the food still wasn’t ready. The cook was extremely rude to his daughter and customers and when we asked how much longer for the food. The advanced ticket purchase to get a discount on the meal was not worth it. Odds are I will never visit the restaurant if this is a reflection of how they do business.

We ordered several items and once we started to eat we realized that beef patties were missing. We called the store and asked for a credit as it was delivered by Door Dash.We were told that it was put in the bag.. No other explanation or credit was given to make it right.Ruined the whole experience for me.Poor customer service.

Food was good, only one worker so u have to have patience. One day i went in and they ran out of food before they closed at 10 so you have to get there early.

I loved this food! It was ready quick and the man, I'm assuming the owner, who helped me was really nice! I wish the j*** chicken had just a little more flavor but I would still get this again! Definitely worth the price

Great place and food is deeeeeeelicious. The service is outstanding and that's what we need with our black owned restaurants. The J*** chicken and oxtail combo!!! Omg. Never had them together like that and it's worth every $$$. Plenty off food!???

Call ahead. They're always out of something. Glad I read the reviews as well. They have character issues. You don't take someone's order, don't give them food, promise to refund their money and ghost them. That's been mentioned more than once.

Love their food, especially their j*** chicken. Always get the large size with lots of j*** sauce. The downside is that it is a 1 man operation, and the owner Howie is overwhelmed doing all the cooking, sales, telephones, admin etc, hence the problems with unreliable hours, not having any food, long wait times, etc. However, the food is really good, and I am willing to put up with a lot of this nonsense in order to get it. Many times I stopped by only to find the place closed, but I still find myself coming back.

Tried this place once with my friend and I am obsessed ever since. I enjoy the excellent ambience and flavorful food and beverages. Keep up the good work.

My stewed chicken was not flavorful and dense. Meat still white and not seasoned.

Good service, great drinks. Food can be hit and miss. Not a bad experience though. Try it for yourself.

Awesome neighborhood spot. Super friendly folks running this place that always dole out generous portions. J*** chicken is always perfectly spicy and flavorful and oxtail is fall off the bone tender. They’ll also make combos if you ask (for a couple extra bucks). I usually get j*** chicken and oxtail combo. Ask for the homemade hot sauce on the side if you like spicy.

I ordered 2 oxtail meals, 2 beef patties & 1 cocoa bread.. The oxtail is dry, the rice and peas has NO flavor, The cabbage is very soft... I am very disappointed because the reviews said otherwise... AND it does not come with plantains. I mean.. what jamaican meal makes me you pay extra for plantains. I gave it a 2 because they give you a healthy portion but flavor is a No!

ok so taste of jamaica has been around for over 10 years... maybe longer(i remember them from nw location, two locations in ne and now back to nw)... if you want authentic jamaican food that you can taste the love inside, you just ought to try taste of jamaica! & if you are lucky enough to catch them on a day that they are serving soup, then you are in for a most delicious treat! i was fortunate enough to stop by yesterday and they had red bean and chicken foot soup... each bit of soup was like exploring a treasure chest... first dumpling, then yam, sweet corn and turkey necks... my! my! my! who will be calling shortly to see if they have any left, today? me, that's who! thanks taste of jamaica for being a solid go to spot for authentic jamaican food!
