The Tabard is a very nice place to visit. However, I was very disappointed in the brunch food. The eggs were average. The breakfast potatoes were average with some unusual spices which left an aftertaste for hours. The chicken sausage was inedible. The manager was nice and took off 10% for the sausage. I have been going here for 35 years and the brunch food preparation needs to be rethought. I would say this was one of my only poor experiences at the Tabard. Time to change your recipes and do some taste testing.
Food was amazing! The place is so charming and service was outstanding! Can't wait to go back.
This is a must stop if you are in DC. An icon for decades, it never fails to impress. The location, the decor, the staff, the service, the kitchen, the food...all amazing and memorable. When searching for that special place, this is the one. Especially right now with the new menu items. The swordfish is AMAZING!
Tabard Inn was fabulous, like something out of colonial America (think, Williamsburg). The food was excellent...especially the Chesapeake Blue Crab dip and the Bread Pudding. You cannot visit Washington without dining at Tabard Inn. We sure hope to return.
Pear semi freddo was interesting- even though it wasn’t what I was expecting and didn’t hit the spot like I wanted it to. the quality was good so it makes me want to go back and try something else. Signature g&t was very good
Tabard Inn is our favorite go-to place for civilized brunches and intimate meals with good friends. Its charming, old-fashioned ambience, flawless service, and excellent fare without all the cutesy fashionable frills of modern American cuisine - just great food, well prepared and well served, is timeless.
Tabard Inn is a step back into history...including being quite popular. Gigi was an attentive server. Loved the seasonal touches...from the pumpkin butter to the squash entree
Restaurant in the inn was spectacular. The manager came and brought us some chocolate truffles and a liquor after our meal, it was nice and thoughtful! The setting and ambiance of the patio was really great as well!
The Tabard Inn features farm to table food and it did not disappoint. I ordered the salmon dish with an accompanying dish of a corn medley. My friend had the duck breast and a bib salad.
Absolutely loved our meal here. Went for breakfast on the patio as it was a gorgeous morning. Walking through to the back patio the ambiance was At first dark and then brightened with ceiling windows in the middle bar area. Electric art hung on the walls and beautiful artwork were found on the patio and front of the inn. The French toast was amazing and donut was only $2 and scrumptious. Just a fabulous experience, very attentive service. Would recommend 10/10!

We recently hosted an event at Tabard Inn, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the staff was incredibly attentive and kind, and the atmosphere made it truly special. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique spot in DC.
A very special thank you to Elena for her amazing help and support throughout the process, we couldn’t have done it without her!
This is a review on the restaurant only. We had a wonderful Sunday morning brunch here. Charming, eclectic building, full of small rooms and patios. Great brunch menu, impeccable service. Food was delicious.
Food and drinks were very good 10/10 . Service was a tad slow but still amazing , just long waits between table touches .
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Tabard Inn three different times over the course of this past summer (two one-night stays plus a two-nighter. At ± $120/night, it’s a solid value. We will definitely be back.
Caveat. If your preference is for the perfection, homogenity and, well, blandness of the chain hotels, the Tabard is likely not for you. On the other hand, if you like quirky places with history and personality, you’ll probably love the Tabard, as we do.
Location. Within walking distance of many DC tourist spots, e.g., ten-min. to Dupont Circle (Metro, restaurants, etc); 25-min. to the White House, 30-min. to M St. & Wisconsin Ave. (heart of Georgetown); 60-min. to the Capitol.
Rooms. Each of our rooms was different (size, configuration, etc); all were clean, comfortable and reasonably quiet. The décor (antiques and flea market pickings) feels circa 1900. Be advised, however: i) they don’t have microwaves, fridges or TVs ii) some of the rooms share a bathroom down the hall—so you may want to confirm your room has a bath, if that’s important to you, before booking.
Restaurant. Breakfast at the Tabard is not to be missed! The food is amazing and the patio is gorgeous. “Added” bonus: they give you a $10 voucher for use at the restaurant for each night’s stay. Lastly, though we did not have dinner there, I would note that the restaurant is very highly rated.
Great experience as usual. The only complaint: the server provided us the limited breakfast menu, and not the brunch menu, even though our res was for the brunch hours. Not a big issue, but a small attention to detail.
