Had heard alot about this restaurant, glad we didn't listen! The atmosphere and food were both great! Our waitress Courtney coupled w the GREAT food and the friendly host made us come back b4 heading to the airport! Twice in one week!!!! Can't wait to visit again from Miami!
Average soul food place. The mac n cheese was super salty and gummy. The food was just okay. The fried green tomato were good. Our waiter, Charles was great and the atmosphere welcoming.
Vegetarian options: Only sides and salads are vegetarian

Why didn't anyone warm me??This location is the absolute worst!!! This was my first time at this one. I just happen to be on this side of town so I stopped here.Normally, I love the greens (not at this location though) I got greens, J*** Salmon, Potato salad.Sidebar: I was at the Hyattsville location last week and got the same thing and it was the best meal ever.Today we spent over $100 and the food was horrible. Not to mention it took an hour to get our food, but that's another sad story. I would have done better at the Chipotle across the street. We ate inside the restaurant I barely ate my food I wish I would have just got a refund. I am so irritated that we wasted our money. This location needs prayer. What a waste!!!!

The food is great! I was hesitant at first. The host didn't seem to be welcoming, but that all changed with our waitress, she was nice and attentive.

This place came highly recommended so we tried it. I was impressed by the amount of soul food options they had available, a very large selection to choose from. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable with recommendations. I liked the dessert options available ultimately I went with the red velvet cake, which was very sweet but moist and tasty. Out of 3 of us the main complaint was the food was too salty. My friend got like a $60 seafood platter and didn’t even finish it. The breading was too salty for him. I liked my sweet potatoes and greens (salty). Overall would try it again but order different meat options. The alcoholic drinks they have for sale were very tasty, could use more liquor in them, but still good.

My favorite restaurant. This was my 2nd time to this restaurant but first time to this location. They made us feel very welcomed. The food was amazing and a large portion. The food wasn’t expensive at all. The cornbread is amazing! The smothered pork chops were the best and their sides are so good. Sherilla S worked both the bar and tables and she was on point. She did not miss. There was also a male server that I didn't get his name but he was amazing too. He was very comical and you could tell he loved his job. There was a DJ that played all the best tunes! Highly recommend this place!

Don’t usually rate for anything but a 1 or 5 star ⭐️ but the food was really good. Got mac and cheese and yams with fried chicken. It was tasty but I’m not sure if it’s worth the price. Do I regret it? No, but can’t make it a regular thing either. The cake slice was $9 which is insane.

Great service and delicious food! We are so happy to have tried Carolina Kitchen today. Our server, Roger, was absolutely wonderful! We tried the shrimp and grits, creole salmon, ribs and fried chicken. The recommendations were excellent and have us definitely wanting to come back for more. Thank You Roger for your attentions and making today such a great day for us.

First of all, as an African American woman, this place is overhyped. I got the chicken, mac, and sweet potatoes. The chicken was cold, the mac & cheese DEFINITELY did not taste like it came from your grandmothers kitchen & the sweet potatoes were OK. This is a SOUL FOOD spot & with all due respect, it’s actually Mexicans in the kitchen. (Nothing against Mexicans) but I say that to say, it’s not going to give what you think if you’re used to real soul food. The atmosphere was nice though, & so were the people. They do give you big portions so I guess give it a try if you want, but I personally would not go back.

Visited following church service today while visiting the DMV. Very welcoming staff, great food (big, down home portions). The restaurant itself need some updating (on the second floor) but a minor detail when looking for a good meal in a place that treats you right. Will definitely be back.

It's smaller than it looks. Went with a party of 6 at 5:30 pm on Sunday. It took about 20-30 minutes to get seated. Server's were friendly but many of the orders came out wrong. They quickly made it right. Pacing wasn't good. One appetizer came after the entrees. Simple To Go orders took another 20+ minutes. Most people liked the chicken dishes. The catfish was bland. Most of the sides are good, but the mac & cheese didn't get eaten. That says a lot

We went to the location on Rhode Island Avenue. It is very easy to access and for us on the Red Line, it was perfect. The venue is large. Staff is very courteous and we were promptly seated. The food preparation is cafeteria style as it appears they do brisk take-out business. For those dining in, your meal is prepared and offered for delivery to your table. It's a good thing I am not diabetic, at least I don't think I am. The food was tasty but the greens were way too salty. The mash potatoes didn't have that whipped effect I was expecting. Not bad, but had I known the presentation I would have opted for another side. The meatloaf was tasty. The sweet tea was very syrupy or too sweet.Overall, we had a good time but the dishes some elevation as there as many restaurants in the DC area offering a similar menu.

Service was a bit slow for carryout despite the food being already prepared. My entree (mama's chicken) was put in the to-go container, and I had to wait 8 minutes for someone to add the sides ( which were already prepared). This was after the employee skipped me to serve the customer who was behind me. The sides were excellent (Mac n cheese and collard greens). Great flavor and decent portions. The chicken had a good flavor and was seasoned well. Unfortunately, the chicken was dried out as if it had been sitting for a while. I ended up throwing most of it away because it was nearly inedible. It's definitely a shame because my belief is that fresher chicken would have been delicious. I would try it again, but I feel things might be better at a different location.
