OUTSTANDING local neighborhood sports bar. Am here visiting doing the monument/tourist thing with wifey, staying at the Hotel Washington and needed a place close to eat. Stumbled onto this place- advertised as DC's Oldest Sports Bar- and went in immediately. Food was delicious, recommend the Fish n' Chips, and the beer cold. All priced reasonably well. It's a local hangout for the young suits but the guy running it loves tourists. Service was elite and very welcoming- thanks Philip! Full of old DC Sports vibes too. Definite Five Stars here!

The service was amazing.
I recently stopped by The Exchange Saloon at 1719 G St NW and had a fantastic time. A few highlights:
Service & Atmosphere: The staff were notably friendly and attentive—the bartenders chatted with guests, and service felt personal even during a quick stop before a nearby event and heading home
Ambience: Casual and lively, this spot is ideal for catching a game with multiple TVs and a chilled-out environment. Outdoor seating is an added bonus, especially if you’re near the White House area i was inside seated comfortably and went outside after my dinner to feel the breeze and open air experience.
Drinks & Specials: There’s a full bar with local beers and cocktails, plus a happy hour offering discounted rail drinks, house wines, and select bottled beers on weekdays.
If you’re in the mood for good pub food and a laid-back environment near downtown, this is definitely a reliable choice. I will visit again and recommend as well.

Good food, but management needs serious improvement.
I came in tonight for dinner and had high hopes. The food was great, flavorful, fresh, and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was solid too.
But what really stood out was the bartender. He was friendly, upbeat, and made everyone at the bar feel welcome. It was clear he genuinely cared about creating a great experience.
Unfortunately, that all got overshadowed when I saw the manager come out and start yelling at him, right in front of customers. Apparently the bartender had taken a reservation and forgot to write it down. He even apologized and explained he was just trying to bring in more business.
The manager didn’t care. He kept going, and honestly, it was uncomfortable to watch.
I get that mistakes happen, and it’s fair to address them. But yelling at an employee who’s clearly doing his best and doing a great job otherwise is unacceptable.
I hope the ownership takes a closer look at how their team is being treated. Because no matter how good the food is, I’d think twice before coming back if that’s how they run things behind the scenes.
Treat your staff better. They are the reason people come back.
I have been going here for years after playing softball and kickball. There's a deal where volo teams get a ticket to bogo pichers of beer. The other team gave me their ticket because I was biking there and was going to buy the beers ahead of time. Out of nowhere the owner swipes the ticket out of my hand and said each team only gets one ticket now Im schooling you. I explained about the other team and he continued to just say each team gets one ticket and i'm schooling you. Absolutely bizarre. Will never spend a cent there again ✌️.
We previously played flip cup here after the Volo kickball leagues, but apparently they kept raising prices and refused to donate a portion of the proceeds to charity so now we have to walk all the way to whitlow at the wharf which is somehow even worse than the exchange and their unfortunate dedication to the kids.
Had a few drinks. Guy behind bar was so friendly. He was leaving for the day but took time to take us to the roof , the view was amazing for our first visit to DC
Grilled cheese, sweet potato fries and cherry blossom mojito on point!!!
