This place used to be cool a couple of years ago but it’s gone downhill. Server was inattentive and drinks weren’t too great either. Tip is built into the bill so voting with your wallet isn’t easy either. Luckily it’s closing early next year.
Underwhelming. Ordered one drink on the menu and one off, both weren’t very good. Maybe was the time of day we went but was not impressed. The bug zapper outside was loud.
A true speakeasy !!! Hard to come by now that they are popularized. Unmarked door, looks like a vacant building. But once you get in it’s a pre-prohibition theme and they really stick to it - they won’t serve a drink that didn’t exist at that time (I.e. espresso martini). I recommend a reservation.
Kid-friendliness: No, you cannot bring kids here. It’s pre-prohibition themed and nobody brought kids to the bars during that time.

Cute, nice, quaint spot. Very relaxed and intimate speakeasy. The bartender Dwayne was amazing! Great drinks and good vibes I will definitely be back.

The drinks we ordered were consistently bad. The old fashioned was too strong. The infinitum tasted like cheap seltzer with a smell of citrus. No effort on presentation. Super small glasses. I have been to many bars but this is the worst experience I have ever had, in terms of service and cocktails. Cool concept but not worth it.

The drinks on the menu were ok. Drinks not on the menu even better! The Fledgling (w/ the straw), Infinitum, Dancing with chaos, Lemon drop. The black normal looking door is the entrance, it is very secretive and nondescript. For anyone who has recently seen 1923 it is very much like the Speakeasy making you wonder if you are in the right place. There is a doorman and once you enter in, it is dark and secretive feeling with the candles and dim lighting. We ended up moving out to the patio, which that was a thing even tho no one was out there and there really wasnt many inside. The doorman had to come move us. Our waitress was not helpful nor really engaged with us ....until it was time to pay and then wanted to make an impression. And we never saw any sort of food menu so I honestly don't know that there actually is food.

The atmosphere was nice but the bartenders and staff were extremely rude to us. We came in hoping for a pleasant experience but was told we needed to have reservations even though the tables were empty. We were not left with a good feeling and left immediately! Goodness... how you are still open when you treat customers like this.

Squint at the door with an eye to leave the street chaos behind you. Yes, it is that door, just as (hopefully) unassuming as your expectations as a speakeasy. You find it unlocked.A friendly face greets you and finds you a place. The staff are knowledgeable and help you find a drink that suits your preferences. The ambiance offers you a recuse from Georgetown, if only for a while.

Small indoor speakeasy with great vibes and outdoor patio that probably picks up at night. The entrance feels like a speakeasy. The drinks were solid. Make sure to have reservations for

Super cute little "speakeasy" that's a great spot to meet friends, a date or pop in on your own. The staff were friendly and professional - and surprisingly quick with what seemed like very complicated cocktails. Would definitely go back!

Great, intimate spot for a drink. I've been here at least a half dozen times and can't wait to come back. The bar and service are top notch. If you aren't in love with what is on the menu, chat with your server and they often can make something perfect and unique for you.
Great to visit this dc institution after Covid closing. Monday night - had reservations but no trouble getting seats at the bar.The Gibson is back! Custom cocktails spot on. Engaging bartender. Chill speakeasy vibe.
Mediocre cocktails. Super weird service. $20 craft cocktails with bar ice in an old fashion. Sort of just a let down. Only cool thing is the inconspicuous front door.
Nighttime Shenanigans at it's Finest ?If you're on the hunt for a classic speakeasy with excellent cocktails, bartenders and atmosphere - This is a must visit ??We went here with some friends after a show at the DC Improv - and we were impressed to say the least. Great place for crafted cocktails and conversations can easily be had.Everyone loves hunting for this place - But it's relatively easy to find.Highly recommend ??
A classic speakeasy with great ambiance, attentive and knowledgeable bartenders, and a fun rotating menu to inspire a new drink choice. A great place to catch up with friends or bring a date.
