My table's appetizers and cocktails were tasty and served quickly, but we waited over an hour for entrees — none from the rotisserie — that were pretty lackluster. We ate at Henri 2.5 hours before a show at Warner Theatre, and the long wait time caused us to have to scarf down our food or miss final call for seating at the show. Our entrees were cooked well, but everyone in our party felt their dish lacked salt and wasn't a great value for the cost. It may have just been an off night, but I probably won't be back.
The Henri is a hidden gem - yet in broad daylight! Quietly nestled a few steps from the sidewalk and across the street from the Warner Theater, the Chef's menu offers sublime renditions on seasonal favorites along with many options from the rotisserie. The service was perfect. The front room is comfortable-casual while the side and back rooms offer venues for private parties and large groups.
Our server, Maritza M, was super! Very attentive and knowledgeable about the food choices. The bar area was lively and fun. Our second time at The Henri and it will not be the last.
The Henri is always a sumptuous lunch in a lovely room with attentive and genuine staff. The food is always good. Overpriced and there is better value to be had but DC is an expensive food city and Henri keeps up its prices with the best of them. The setting is quiet and comfortable for a group or a private meal. I have never had dinner here but the bar area and the back space look so inviting! Enjoy
Excellent food and service. Unique and somewhat pricy menu. Their version on Escargot is delicious. We enjoyed the tajine , lamb shank and guinea fowl. Very interesting and delicious. Definitely recommend. Not cheap though.
We enjoyed the restaurant very much. They serve skate which is hard to find in a restaurant. It was delicious.
Wonderful experience, the open kitchen shows off the culinary skill of the staff and everything we ordered was amazing. The drinks were also very well prepared.
The waitstaff were very attentive. Great ambiance. Drinks were really good. The food was good but I expected a little better based on the description of their quality of food and location. Used a lot of butter and oil in their meals. I would go back and give other dishes a try.
We went for a pre-show dinner and were seated next to the open kitchen. Staff, Celia in particular, was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful with recommendations, and efficient. We started with the endive salad and a selection of 3 cheeses shared by the two of us. I had the branzino and enjoyed watching it cook on the rotisserie. My wife had the lamb chops. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection. Most places leave it to you to filet your own branzino and The Henri was no exception. We had time for dessert and they looked tempting, but we were stuffed and waddled over to the National Theatre just around the corner.
Although originally confirmed, I was informed early in the day we were to dine that my reservation for two could only be honored in the bar. I agreed to a bar table not realizing that it would be much smaller than most bar tables I had been in before. I also didn't realize how small the bar was so that the noise level was the worst I had ever encountered. I will not do that again at The Henri. However the service was excellent as were the bar snacks. The best were the Brussels sprouts. They were delicious !

Do you ever find such a good restaurant, that is so deserving of a 5 star review, but selfishly you don't want it become so well known that you can't get a table in there anymore? That would certainly be the temptation with the Henri. But the staff are so deserving of high praise, that it would be wrong to not give them their due. The Henri has become a go-to place for private, curated dinners. But their bar and restaurant space is delightful and well worth visiting, with or without reservations. They have an incredible happy hour menu--not only in the quality of their food and drink, but in almost matched prices (drinks $5-10 and snacks $9 or less). And snacks are a lot more than a bowl of nuts or pretzels. These are basically gourmet appetizers. I've eaten there for lunch and dinner and never had a bad meal, or even just an okay meal. They're always at least good and very often excellent. But the best part is the service. The staff there are so attentive and take such good care of you, consistently. I've been going there for 3+ years now and they have such minimal turnover in staff. I've been to plenty of downtown restaurants many times and almost never have repeat wait or bar staff. Not so at the Henri. They have a family-owned culture that welcomes you in and makes you feel at home. That is hard to find anywhere, but especially in downtown DC. Check it out for yourself -- you will not be disappointed.
Overall the good was good not great. At the price point it was not good enough to return. The steak and the chicken tasted ok. The lobster was fine. Nothing blew me away and nothing stood out as a must have of the mains. The apps were better than the mains. All that being said , the service was outstanding and the restaurant is nice. If you want decent food with excellent service this a good choice.

We dined at The Henri before going to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the National Theater and it was absolutely one of the BEST dining experiences I’ve ever had! We chose the Lamb Sorting Hat from their HP themed menu and the Warm Watercress and Bean Salad from their main menu, then for the main dishes we had Quenelle Sauce Nantua and Raspberry Glazed Duck Breast and ended with crème brûlée!! Everything was fantastic! I also order a spirit free drink from the HP menu called House of Ravenclaw which was wonderful!

Second time dining here. The servers were kind and attentive. The food was great. Would return.
Great food, menu was varied, gluten free options for a Celiac were available and staff were knowledgeable about allergy protocols. They had Harry Potter inspired items since the restaurant is near the Cursed Child venue in DC. Fun and wonderful experience.
