This place is closed!
We ordered the Beef Wellington, Steak Caesar salad, and the fish. It took them close to an hour to get everything out, and both the Wellington and steak in salad were bad. Food was not worth the money, but the service and atmosphere were just fine.
Had the beef wellington. The meat was tasty and cooked well however, it was missing key components of a beef wellington (mushroom duxelles and Parma ham). The music was blaring out so it was hard to a conversation at the table
It was okay. Food wasn’t bad but not as good as expected. Service was okay. Atmosphere is cool for sure! Probably won’t go back to be honest.
We had a great dinner tonight at The Imperial! The drinks were amazing, staff were friendly and accommodating, and the food was out of this world. Highly recommend the steamed shrimp, crab claws and beef Wellington.
This has become our go-to bar/restaurant. The food and cocktail quality are outstanding. We love seafood and have pretty high standards and The Imperial doesn't dissappoint. They know how to prepare and cook fish and the sauces are all amazing. Its chic yet very welcoming and comfortable so you can dress any way you want and fit right in. Its small and we easily got to know the servers, bar tenders and hosts. All super warm and friendly. Love the music and that they have so many different hidden spaces (indoor and outdoor for the summer.) Highly recommend this place.
Portions were small, drink menu is tiny, food is expensive and bad tasting, and they automatically charge 20% tip plus service fee. Burger, fish/chips and one drink cost $75
Nice clean atmosphere. The food was not as good as I would have hoped for considering the prices of some of the most basic dishes.
If you have a big party, might not be the best option. It took one hour for any of us to receive a drink or our appetizers from the bottomless menu. Then took another 30 minutes for more than 3 people to receive anything. Service was rude to many of us when we would try to politely ask for an update or a refill. Eventually things got faster and we left satisfied that we got our moneys worth but some things definitely need to be refined.
A key point, which is why I still rated highly is that the food was delicious and the drinks were all well made.

The aesthetic is lovely but please beware that this restaurant smells like a Porta Potty.
Clearly there is some sort of sewage/ ventilation issue in the indoor portion of the restaurant. The food is average, but even harder to stomach with the stench. Servers were very attentive, however.

Phenomenal experience at The Imperial last week. We aren’t surprised at its mention in the Michelin Guide, and frankly it deserves Bib Gourmand.
We tried a huge portion of the menu: shaved Caesar, red oak salad, crab claws (two kinds), rockfish, beef Wellington, Parker house rolls. We would order any of those again in a heartbeat. Same with the cocktails.
On the service side, they were instantly responsive when I mentioned that my wife was cold in the main dining room. They moved us up to the rooftop and didn’t miss a beat. They also deftly handled a few menu alterations.
The miracle is that you can still generally get a table, which is tougher at some nearby spots that we (frankly) don’t think punch at Imperial’s weight.
If you live in Admo, DuPont, or frankly anywhere in NW DC, you’re doing it wrong if Imperial isn’t in your regular rotation.

The Imperial: Exceptional Drinks and Warm Hospitality
We dropped by The Imperial late one night, hoping to experience Dram & Grain, only to find that the downstairs had closed early. Despite the change of plans, the evening turned out to be a delightful experience. The staff, especially the blonde lady with glasses tending the bar, was incredibly warm and accommodating. She made us feel right at home, even as the night wound down and the place grew quieter.
Though we missed out on Dram & Grain, the bartenders still crafted the pop-up drinks we were eager to try. Bob, the downstairs bartender, impressed us with his knowledge and passion. The sorghum whiskey he prepared was one of the most thoughtful and unique cocktails I’ve had in D.C. My partner enjoyed a perfectly balanced Mai Tai.
The Imperial’s ambiance is a blend of chic sophistication and Mid-Atlantic elegance, making it a fantastic spot for a late-night drink. The attentive service and quality of the cocktails ensured that our evening was memorable, even if it didn’t go as originally planned.

We came on a night where the main dining was reserved. We had dinner in the basement. The basement is very nicely decorated and the staff was very attentive. Will return for the dining experience on the main dining floor.
