I was very disappointed that the notes that I added about a birthday were NOT transmitted to the restaurant as the birthday was NOT acknowledged, but about adjacent table, staff presented a dessert and sang. I was very disappointed

The always elegant Hay Adams! It is always a treat to dine here. I was sad however to see the crab Benedict is no longer on the menu, and that the Fiji water in its silver holder was not part of the table setting any longer.

This spills over into every aspect, from the cocktails to the wines and the entrees to the desserts. The service is impeccable. What more could you ask for?

It was my 89th birthday and a group of us seniors gathered for a lovely Sunday brunch in the Lafayette's dining room, one of my favorite places in all of this wonderful city. Our reservation was for 1:30 but the majority had difficulty getting there -- the staff came to the rescue and kept the kitchen going until we were all served and happy. Everyone enjoyed her meal, but the most extraordinary things, over and above the good food, are the ambience and service. What a wonderful afternoon. (And because it was my birthday, I had a glass of wine gratis, and was treated to a pretty little birthday dessert.)

Come here for view of White House, classic dining area or if you are staying at the hotel, but not the overpriced food. Tasty health smoothy, a small jar of ketchup, 2 sausage, 4 pieces of potato, half a grilled avocado accompanied omelette. While ok does not justify the price. Clean opulent dining room, white table cloth, service was excellent throughout.
