Come here for view of White House, classic dining area or if you are staying at the hotel, but not the overpriced food. Tasty health smoothy, a small jar of ketchup, 2 sausage, 4 pieces of potato, half a grilled avocado accompanied omelette. While ok does not justify the price. Clean opulent dining room, white table cloth, service was excellent throughout.

The restaurant is beautiful, the food is spectacular, but the most impressive part is the service. The team working there is made up of incredibly kind people — from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, they’re super attentive. I was helped by José, and it was a 10/10 experience.

First, there is someone to greet you outside the hotel with valet parking. This is an area on 16th street, directly in front of the WH (formerly BLM Blvd). Very populated, removes any stress to find a place to park. Lovely lobby seating as you wait for your whole party to arrive. Lafayette Restaurant hostess greeted us. Sat us immediately, greeted by a whole team, led by Efrain. Food is excellent, wonderful and delicious root vegetables: everyone enjoyed their entree- rockfish, veg cauliflower, and 2 special scallop dishes. Bread 2 types were offered, I was generously offered one of each. Desserts are delicious and unique, loved the fleur citrus meringue. One of us spilled our water glass, it was attended to immediately. Definitely a pleasant experience. Not for everyday, but will return!

My friend and I visited to celebrate my birthday last month. The ambience and piano music was lovely and beautiful! While the food wasn’t quite to our taste, the staff in the hotel and the restaurant were polite and accommodating, which made this unique experience enjoyable overall. Thank you!

A fun and delicious experience! The fun was seeing recognizable faces from the political world. Delicious because the food is amazingly good.

The food was good. But what really keeps me coming back, is the outstanding service.. love the ambiance as well. White tablecloths, excellent and discreet service, good food. Couldn't ask for more. Just wish there were more restaurants like this.

This is our go to place in DC for special events. If you want old school formal white table cloth dining this is it .

Maitre de service = 5 stars, very responsive to personal requests. Waiter service = 5 stars, very attentive. Kitchen service = 2 stars, service was excruciatingly slow despite few customers. Ambience = wonderful interior design and exterior views, but was detracted by numerous fruit flies.

We had breakfast which was sublime! Excellent service and outstanding food. One of my “must do” meals when in DC

Jose was our waiter; all staff were friendly and accommodating; had a great window table for 2. OJ was fresh-squeezed and delicious. Carrot-ginger soup outstanding! Everything was wonderful!

Opentable Diner

The Lafayette is a destination for discerning diners who value privacy, attentive service and scrumptious dishes. It is my go-to place in DC to have meetings over a meal. The staff is professional and discrete; not overbearing. Expensive? Yes, but worth every penny.

Had so much hope for this place but nothing but disappointment unfortunately. The king crab appetizer had a tendon larger than the crab still in it. When the entrees arrived one dish was cold. The service was terrible, never checked on our food walked past looked we are missing a plate. By the time the food returned the others at the table had already finished. The fish was not what I had hoped for either, it was on par for red lobster. All in all I would not come back. Again super disappointed.

Three of the four of us had braised lamb at $44 each. The lamb was tender but dry and not very tasty. The bell pepper and caramelized onion sauce that went with it was not that flavorful and a bit too sweet. We ended up adding some of a very good Pinot, some salt and pepper, and that helped. But we shouldn't have had to do that. Very disappointed in that expensive dish. Otherwise the service was quite good and the ambience was excellent.
