Nice English pub in DC but ridiculous prices and slightly second rate atmosphere.

I'm English, but....

28 dollars without tax for a Sunday roast?

With tips that comes to around 30 pounds.

Only the fanciest places in London would go anywhere near charging that.

Cmon guys. Roasts and English meals are a traditional meal for the working class in a football pub which is for the working class.

Maybe Americans don't understand about British culture, for which I'll give them the benefit of the doubt...

Even if I was Elon Musk, I'd refuse to ever pay that out of principle.

Especially as across the road people are camping out at bus stops and begging for cents.

And maybe shouldn't you put a bigger emphasis on creating a friendly, vibrant atmosphere with prices like that?

I.e. having people who are incredibly nice and relaxed?

I've noticed in DC, there is this atmosphere of not being very friendly. But can't you buck the trend and revive the old English Spirit?

It might make me want to come back!

The pub building itself is really nice and reminds me of home with the football scarfs on the wall and wooden panels etc

We always have a great time at the Queen Vic! Highly recommend sports fans make a point to go for a Liverpool game (get there early)! The food and drinks are also great, service is wonderful, and you can’t beat the atmosphere. 10/10 on all fronts.

Great poutine and perogies (hand made from fresh dough). Solid specialty drinks, with knowledgeable competent friendly bartenders. Definitely not one of those everything from a mix places. If you like a homemade gastropub level food in a dive bar setting with a warm inviting atmosphere you may consider Queen Vic.

This is the best English pub I’ve ever visited. The best and most inclusive setting. My brother and I randomly ate there on our first day in DC and we both agreed it was worth a second visit on the next day in DC. The second visit was just as good as the first. Great food (steak and mushroom pie, schnitzel, stroganoff, etc), cold Guinness, and great staff who are working hard to meet everyone’s needs. Great experiences and will definitely return when in the area again.

Went to Queen Vic for lunch with my mom. We ordered the Fish and Chips and Sunday Roast. The fries and Yorkshire pudding were burned. But everything else was great (especially the gravy and lamb), I would give it a second chance because I love Sunday roast. Restaurant was clean, and staff was friendly.

Great spot to watch a match with other enthusiasts. Friendly and prompt service. The fish and chips portion size was great - super crispy fish with fries and mushy peas. Just wish the fish was seasoned a little more and the tartar sauce more tangy & chunky. Would come back to try other food too.

This is the best pub I've ever been to. I'm 13 who just got into soccer and we came here to watch Manchester United vs Arsenal. Service was nice and quick, and the staff were really nice. When I ordered steak and eggs, I wanted the eggs scrambled, but they came sunny side up, and I was fine with that. The chef came out about 5 minutes later with free scrambled eggs, and it was the nicest thing a chef has done to me. The owner had a friendly conversation with us, and he said that I should be a Liverpool fan. I'll consider it :D

Best pub/restaurant I've ever been to, will come again for sure.

I came to Queen Vic to celebrate my birthday. It was an AMAZING experience. I’m not a drinker, so I decided to try some wine. Erinn was the server on duty and provided some delicious red wine, as well as Pierogies. She also played amazing music. You definitely need to try this spot out. It’s fun!
