We had a great dining experience at The Smith in Washington, DC! Our server, Tara, was fantastic—she recommended the Chicken Parmesan and the Rigatoni Alla Vodka, and she was spot on. My husband and I split our dish and both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. For dessert, Tara suggested the Sticky Toffee Pudding, and again—delish! Kudos to Tara for knowing the menu so well and guiding us to the best choices. We'll definitely be back!
Lovely venue, great menu and helped with gluten free choices. Food was very tasty indeed. Highly recommend.
Excellent brunch menu, I had the pancakes with bacon and home fries. My partner hd the eggs Benedict. We were very satisfied. The best was the home fries, seasoned perfectly. I have not had any better than these.
We had a great experience celebrating our son's 30th birthday. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent, and my entire family plans to return soon.
I've been visiting DC for two weeks and I have eaten in many great restaurants. I had high hopes for the Smith however it was extremely loud and crowded and in comparison to many other restaurants was not my favorite food or service wise.
Fun, lively atmosphere with good food, attentive friendly service, varied menu and central location. Only downside is that hard floors make it VERY noisy--extremely difficult to converse with my dinner companion, and there were only 2 of us at a small table.
We had lunch at 2:30 pm after a play. The wait staff was attentive and enthusiastic. The variety of dishes on the menu was perfect for lunch.
This restaurant is loud! Our server disappeared after bringing us drinks and a new server came and talked to us about lunch options. I'm gluten and dairy free and they suggested something that after asking a few questions, turned out to have dairy in it. No GF buns for sandwiches. She suggested the Bim-- Bowl (Korean rice bowl with a cooked egg on top) which came out piping hot in a stone container that continued to heat/cook the food. It was too hot to eat (temperature-wise) and my friends finished their meals and I was still struggling to cool mine enough to eat (burned my mouth multiple times and had to drink water to cool it enough to swallow the molten food). I would never recommend this dish (well, maybe in the heart of winter, if you are frozen) because the food kept cooking, so it became overcooked before I could even eat it. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals, Ahi Tuna sandwich (a bit messy), oysters & fries. Our original server returned after the food arrived. He disappeared again and since the restaurant had cleared out and we couldn't see him anywhere, we took turns going to the restroom (best part of this restaurant is the Photo Booth by the bathrooms!) He finally returned with dessert menus. We declined, asked for the check, paid and left. Summary - it was just . . . meh. Not great service (servers should know their menu entree's well enough to suggest things for patrons with dietary restrictions), and shouldn't disappear multiple times (it was raining out and we weren't in a hurry but it was long enough for us all to wonder where he'd gone). Lastly, how much heating does rice actually need? Maybe rethink that dish because there is nothing pleasant about burning your mouth and throat while eating. My tastebuds were toasted and the table top was very hot to the touch even after they took the dish away. I do recommend you go stuff your friends into the Photo Booth and take fun pictures while there. It might be the highlight of your visit.
Delicious food, beautiful ambience...just packed and loud during the lunch hour. The hostess was beautifully friendly as was our server who was excellent. Will definitely visit again on our next trip to DC.
Ambiance was nice, and service was ok. Food was very average and somewhat pricey for quality served

The Smith is my new favorite restaurant! I had the pot of mussels which were perfectly cooked. The broth was amazing but I wished they served it with crusty bread instead of french fries. My bourbon sour cocktail was sweet and smooth and the heart shaped design in the foam was a special touch. The staff was attentive but not intrusive and interestingly seemed to be friendly with each other. The team effort to make sure guests were taken care of extended to even the managers and it was obvious and refreshing. Special kudos to our waitress Terricka. We'll definitely be back!!
Service was terrific, food was tasty. We were visiting with an out-of-town friend. The last time we went, it must have been later in the evening, which is why we suggested meeting up here. However, the noise level at 7pm was DEAFENING. Unacceptable. We needed to shout to be heard.
We were seated promptly. We placed our drink order right away. 15 minutes later, still no drinks served. That's unacceptable for restaurant service. After that everything went well and the food was great.
Regina was the best server!! So kind, knowledgeable, and so easy to chat with!! Such a great video and amazing food!
Each time I go to this restaurant service seems to be lacking. Each time someone comes to check on the table it is a new waiter and I can never seem to get someone's attention when I do need something. Usually it is busy when I go so it's understandable, but my last visit we were one of only a handful of tables inside and still did not have great service
