Best steak and eggs i ever had. The bloody Mary was classic. great location and friendly staff. We will be back.
Despite the hostess not even giving me and my group eye contact when I was giving her my name for the reservation, our experience turned out to be very nice. The restaurant is in a prime location and in walking distance to the Verizon Center, Fords Theater, and shopping. Our waiter more than made up for the hostess fiasco giving good suggestions, and being very attentive without being intrusive. The food was good and the drinks, although kind of expensive in my book, were good, as well. I would definitely come back. And an added bonus is visiting during the Christmas season. The Christmas Market that is held yearly downtown is literally just steps away making for a very festive experience.
Had the skirt steak and it was prepared to perfection with crispy tasty fries. A little loud on a Thursday evening at 5:30 but fun ambiance none-the-less.
I live in the neighborhood and the Smith is my go to. If you want outstanding service and really good food, this is a great option. Also the late night hours are great as well. Highly recommended!
The food was not what we expected at all. Based on the great reviews and ratings, we thought this was going to be an outstanding place, but unfortunately, it wasn't. We ordered the Smith Burger and the Rigatoni allá vodka, and both dishes were terrible. We didn't even bother mentioning it to anyone—we just “ate” quickly and left. We were so disappointed we didn't stay for dessert. On the positive side, the service was fairly good. We had reservations for 10:00 but showed up around 9:30, and they still seated us, which we appreciated. The front desk staff was awesome. Sadly, despite the good service, the food alone would keep us from coming back.
Overall great experience. Was not crowded or too busy because it was lunch. Service was great
The food and drinks were delicious. And service was amazing! Our server was fun, attentive, and accommodating. She noted that she was also the barista so she made sure my custom caramel oat latte was flavorful. I would definitely return for another cheeseburger in the future.
It has become so increasingly rare to have a pleasant experience out for dinner these days at a relatively fair price point that I wanted to write a brief review of my recent experience at The Smith. My friend and I went before a basketball game at Capitol One Arena (to avoid the horrific and overpriced food there at the arena) and we were thankful to be able to book a reservation, be seated right on time, served promptly and courteously, and get out in time to make it into the game without issue. We enjoyed our brown liquor based drinks and our entrees (bar steak and branzino). The entrees were, for this day and age, very reasonably priced for what they were. The service was attentive and it was nice that both still and sparkling water was left on the table for us, along with pre-dinner bread. My steak was a bit smothered in the sauce, which perhaps should have been warned about in case I had wanted it on the side (the taste was fine ultimately). Our server, who's name I wish I remembered, was very pleasant and funny, as well as attentive. The restaurant was very loud, such that we had some trouble hearing the special when she mentioned it, but that is perhaps to be expected for a weekend evening. Thank you to The Smith for a nice experience. I would encourage others to give them a try if they are looking for something in that area or if they are headed to the arena or a nearby theater.
We love going here for the location, good food and a lively vibe. Bar service was a little slow but the place was packed due to a Caps game and concert at the Warner. This is our go to when in DC for a concert or sports event as it appears as it was evident that it is a favorite for others too.
Had family in from out of town and they all enjoyed the food. Our server paid attention to the needs of our 7 year old guests.

It seems they changed some of the staple items on the menu. The potato chips with blue cheese appetizer changed to tasteless onion mush with hard dry chips. They gave out two different drink menus when we ordered so some of the drinks were no longer available. The service at the bar was so backed up that out second round of drinks didn't come out until well after we're done eating and didn't even have any garnish or cherries on the old fashion since it was thrown together in haste.
The atmosphere was lovely and the food was excellent with a good variety offered. This was a casual lunch no business. The only problem was the room was very loud. We could barely hear each other across the table. Leaving was a rest for the ears and I was enjoying sitting and talking but we finally left early.
Great spot! Food and service both excellent, I recommend the skillet mac and cheese as well as the flash-fried Brussels sprouts. Drink menu was also very solid, and if you're only inclined to imbibing, they have a gorgeous bar area. Downside is, it's just loud - but if you're OK with that, then this place works great. Would come back.
We were inundated with bugs. Mosquitos and a fly and maybe a bee. We should have asked to move but it didn't get really bad until the end of our meal and the. We stood up by the hostess station to wait for the check. Yes, we were indoors. By the window next to the door.
Good service. Asked for bread and butter but never got it. Food quality was good. I would definitely return to this restaurant in the future.
