These guys have a double smash burger with carmelized onions and Russian dressing that is the most amazing thing ever. The wait staff is great and the atmosphere is pretty cool (the building used to be a movie theater), and just some chill r&b playing. Love it. Def coming back.

So I ordered To-go and can’t wait to dine in after my experience. The food is BOMB! It feels so good to have warm, comforted food around the way! It’s about time we have quality food in our neighborhood. How you have good pizza and good greens in one establishment?!?! Job well done The Strand!!

DC native …
As someone who travels for food, this was my first visit to The Strand DC, and it did not disappoint. The variety of choices was impressive—if one dish wasn’t for you, there were plenty of others to enjoy.

What I loved:
Shrimp & Stone Grits: Excellent—large, flavorful shrimp cooked perfectly.
Sweet & Spicy Salmon: Great balance of flavor.
Fried Chicken: Even better when dipped in the BBQ sauce provided.
Waffle Station: Fun with lots of topping options.
Omelet Station: On point—fresh and well-seasoned.
The showstopper:
The collard greens with turkey and jerk salmon stole the show. I couldn’t stop going back for more! The fresh pineapples tasted like they came straight from Hawaii.
What could improve:
The oxtail and rice were a bit chewy—not the tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture I was hoping for.
Heads-up: $45 plus …( includes sweet tea)

A 20% gratuity, service fee, and taxes are automatically added, so plan accordingly.

Final thoughts:
The service, food, and ambiance were all great. Don’t judge this spot by its exterior or the neighborhood—step inside and discover this hidden gem.

I don’t see many reviews on here about the brunch!!! Our organization had a board meeting there last week and OMG everyone loved the brunch!! I’m taking my mom and family after church today to experience lol. Definitely needed a spot like this on that end. Well deserving for the community.

I arrived in DC late at night (my first time). I was looking for a place for beer and food. I called The Strand DC to make sure they are serving beer and food. The guy on the phone was so kind and said come on over. I arrived and the young woman who brought me a menu was so kind, then the chef ( James) came by and we chatted. He then brought me a complimentary plate of Fried Chicken Wontons. They only serve that during happy hour, which was long past. James just wanted me to have them. They were unbelievably good and the sauce on the side was just out of this world. I ordered the smash burger and that was also wonderful.

The food aside, the welcome and kindness I received at this place will always be one of my greatest memories.

I'll definitely go back before I leave DC.

THANK YOU JAMES AND TEAM 💚

We happened unto this restaurant. The outer appearance was a little off putting. The floors were sticky. BUT the food was simply put amazing! Our table had wings, collards, pizza, Brussels, AND chicken sandwich. The drinks were also delicious and strong. Our water was also very good!

The strand Restaurant graciously allowed us to host the open house for the FLWG Way integrated model of care. The food was amazing as was the service and the atmosphere. I would definitely post another event here.

The Strand exceeded expectations and proved to be a hidden gem with a welcoming and inviting atmosphere. Upon arrival, we were greeted promptly by the manager and the hostess, which set a positive tone for the day. The transition from the hostess to our server was seamless, and the waitress was exceptionally attentive throughout our visit.

The food was outstanding—expertly seasoned, rich in flavor, and consistently replenished, ensuring that no guest had to wait. The service was efficient and well-coordinated, contributing to a smooth dining experience.

The DJ curated an excellent musical backdrop, striking the perfect balance in volume so that conversation remained comfortable and uninterrupted.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Strand and look forward to returning in the future.
