I was staying at the Washington Marriott Georgetown and while I really liked my stay at the hotel, I was pretty disappointed by the attached restaurant. Firstly, I was never officially greeted, when I walked toward the bar I was simply handed a menu and told to sit wherever I wanted. When a server came by a few minutes after he simply asked what I was getting (no « hello » or any sort of introduction). The mushroom raviolis were okay thought they were really basking in olive oil and I found them a bit greasy as a result. I also found the price to be a bit steep considering Chef Geoff’s across the street prices their pasta in the 23-27$ range (as opposed to 30$ for The Visiteur). No one ever checked on me during or after my meal nor was I asked if I wanted a desert or anything else. When I got the check, again my waiter kept conversation to the bare minimum and only asked if I wanted my bill charged to my room. No questions about how my meal went and no « thank you » or « goodbye » as I was leaving the restaurant. Overall, the interaction wasn’t rude but it felt quite terse. The atmosphere, however, is quite nice and lively and the wait time for the food was pretty minimal.
My friends and I recently stayed at the Washington Marriott Georgetown and dined at the attached restaurant for several days, taking advantage of the daily dining credits.
Unfortunately, our experience was consistently disappointing due to the poor service from a female staff member from Ethiopia. Her attitude was extremely unfriendly, and she seemed solely motivated by money, displaying a consistently sour demeanor throughout our visits. Thankfully, we eventually started being served by another staff member, a young Black man, who provided excellent service and greatly improved our dining experience. It's a shame that one staff member's attitude can overshadow the otherwise pleasant atmosphere of the restaurant. I hope the management addresses this issue to ensure all guests receive
the high-quality service they deserve.

Drinks were good, atmosphere is not bad, standard hotel lobby bar, BUT:1) table was not clean, bottle etc from previous customers, no one took it away2) took some 30 mins to get someone to come to our table (and couldn’t order from the bar, had to wait for the waiter), and then another 30 for the drinks to come (ruined the “let’s get a quick drink before heading to the room”)3) no coffee because they had already turned off the machine at 9pm (the place is supposed to close at midnight…)

Pathetic for $25. This is barely a Lunchable. Worst charcuterie I've ever had.

Overpriced Food!We came to this restaurant for dinner during our Washington DC Trip. It is located in the lobby of the Marriott Hotel. We were sat promptly & our server was really nice and attentive. The atmosphere was nice too. The food I ordered was awful & I could not finish it. All our food were overpriced and wasn’t tasty. If I ever return to this place, it would probably be for drinks . Definitely not food.

I had avoided this restaurant before because of a prejudice against hotel restaurants. I was wrong. Wonderful food and the best, attentive service. You won’t be disappointed.
Dropped by for dinner, and it was just a short walk from the Ritz. The food was ok, and the service was spotty. The place was pretty busy with hotel guests. The decor was nice and the lounge was posh. Good to see people out enjoying themselves.

Great atmosphere and everything we ate was really good. Not overly pricey.
Service was top notch, fast and attentive. The old fashion - great! The flatbread seemed like it was in the microwave almost not eatable. Sorry.
Visiteur is the restaurant inside the Marriott hotel. It's a fairly typical middle-of-the-road hotel bar and restaurant with a wide-ranging menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Greek yogurt bowl with berries at breakfast was okay. There was no honey in it and the granola was cheap, bulk restaurant granola. Not freshly made granola. The caesar salad with salmon on the lunch and dinner menu was disappointing. While the salmon was excellent, the romaine lettuce was poor and the grated parmesan tasted like cardboard. The dressing was served on the side so the salad wasn't tossed. The crab cake entree was excellent. So fresh and delicious. It was probably enough for two people to share. The wine list is limited to mostly low-level and mid-level grocery store brands. Very overpriced. For whites, the Brancott sauvignon blanc from New Zealand is the only good value, in my opinion. Despite the inconsistency in food, the service was excellent. All of the wait staff and bar staff were superb. It's too bad they didn't have a better restaurant. All things considered, this is a hotel restaurant that caters mostly to a captive audience: guests. The prices are very expensive for what you get. You can eat at a fine dining restaurant for the same or less money. I can't imagine they get many walk-in customers who aren't actually staying at the hotel.
