The place is covered in fruit flies and house flies. There were so many on the wall behind our table we had to leave because our food and drinks were covered in flies. When we told the employees they seemed like they didn’t really care. It’s disgusting!

The food here has declined some much in the past 2 years 😭 like it’s so bad. I’ve tried numerous things on the menu and it’s always horrible. Most recently I had the nachos and the cheese was hard.
chai lattes and cocktails are really good though. Service is okay and atmosphere is lively. Tryst is a place to come sit and read a book while you people watch and sip on a coffee or cocktail. Not a place for food!!!!

Deceptive in their charges. Their menu says that there is an automatic service charge of 20% for parties of 8 or more. But I was only one person and they still charged a service charge. And the payment machine was automatically set to charge an additional tip. The server told me that the service charge is not a tip! Ridiculous.
BTW, their menu doesn’t mention other up-charges in coffee either.
Waited literally 20 minutes for a vanilla latte, and the place wasn’t seemingly busy.
Staff was off-putting.
My only ask was that the latte be super hot/piping hot. It was lukewarm and mediocre.
Didn’t have the strength to walk back in for a refund.

Food was good but it was very mediocre, homemade chips needed a lot of salt, drinks were nice with good price

This is an excellent local hangout for coffee. Food or cocktails. Big open space that they encourage you to make new friends.

Was recommended the rose vanilla latte by the Barista but it was BAD. Their other stuff is good but just don’t order this…

The barrista was exceptional and the coffee was top tier, the cashiers were not listening to my order ( the barrista corrected it as if their mistakes was the norm), they seem preoccupied with what, I couldn't tell.

Having lived in AdMo for a long time now, every will suggest Tryst as a staple of the neighborhood that you absolutely MUST try. Unfortunately, it doesn't really live up to the hype. Like all restaurants under the Tryst Trading Company umbrella, the service is just really bad. Running a coffeehouse for 70-80 people with just a couple of baristas working as waiters inevitably means long wait times to be seen. It's a great little third space environment with lots of monthly events, so it's not the worst spot in the world by any means, but I find myself underwhelmed by just how sporadic the service is and the coffee isn't exactly a standout from the tons of other places you can get drinks in DC.

My friend and I popped in for a quick drink when we were walking by. We tried the sangria and Orange creamsicle and they were both very good! However, it took 30 minutes just to get the drinks

Had coffee with a friend at one of their outside tables. Everything was perfect except we a server didn’t come to us to take our orders despite our asking. Eventually I went inside and put an order in and someone (who was so nice) brought things out to us (a coffee, a cold drink and a piece of banana bread - all delicious). They were probably just too busy. Still the best coffee shop and nicest staff in AdMo.
