Went in today to get a dulcelatte and got way too much milk. I asked the barista in a Spanish guy in a DG hate it I could get less milk or more coffee. He promptly ignored me. Then after back and forth and unnecessary attitude he agreed to make it again and just gave me a drop of milk and barely filled up the 16oz cup. He has the most disgusting attitude and should not be working in customer service. Usually the black guy who makes it stirs in the syrup at the bottom and doesn’t add as much milk AND HAS A BETTER ATTITUDE!!

One of my fave coffee shops in DC! I ordered the smokehouse and an iced vanilla latte, and both were delicious! The service was pretty quick even though it was moderately crowded on a Sunday early afternoon when I went. All of the staff are very friendly.

Delicious caramel latte, and they have food options as well. This place has been a staple of Columbia Heights for years!

Love the options and service and space. All very nice. I ordered a black matcha from Kenya. Essentially just a powdered black tea with oat milk. The one thing I hated was how TERRIBLE THE WIFI is. Like glitching ever 10 minutes....just bad.Everything else was cool. Probably won't come back since I can't work effectively and their hours are so limited.

The service provided here is severely lacking. The staff exhibit rudeness, condescension, and an overall negative attitude. I wouldn't advise anyone to visit this establishment. Basic human decency and respect should be standard, not the exception.

First, the staff is great! They are respectful, professional, and friendly. So my 1 star for service has no bearing on my interactions with the staff. They are wonderful! It has everything to do with what may be dishonest charges. Before I get to that…the WiFi… really? I mean really?Although I enjoy elements of this coffee shop, especially the staff’s professionalism and kindness, good music, multitude of plants (need some work on the lighting), there is something to say about its odd policy regarding WiFi. Apparently WiFi is only available from Mondays to Fridays, NO weekends. When you do use the WiFi on the weekdays you must obtain a timed ticket, with a unique username and password, and you can only use it for a certain duration of time. The no WiFi on the weekend though…that got to me. You start to feel like they just want to nickel and dime you, which is just undignified.Back to the weird charges… I have noticed a discrepancy in charges. Every time I purchase a small vanilla latte, I get charged either $6.13 or $6.23, as verified on my bank statements. I ask for the receipt every time, and it always states $5.99. Additionally, there is a a “recommended service charge” anytime you order anything, and they also charge an additional 3% or 4% when you use any card. When I have brought it up to the staff regarding how the charge is being calculated and reasons for my receipt’s inaccuracy, they are unable to explain the discrepancy and said I should speak to management/owner.As someone that strongly values integrity and firmly take issue with dishonesty, the lack of transparency DOES NOT sit well with me. It starts to feel like there is an element of deception going on. I hope one of these days some reasonable explanation can be provided.

As a cafe, Tynan gets five stars. The coffee is great, the food is tasty, the employees are lovely, and the atmosphere is cozy. All that being said, it’s not my designated coffee shop. That’s because the WiFi situation is EXTREMELY frustrating. For a place that advertises free WiFi for its customers, the internet is terrible. It’s only available on weekdays — this isn’t mentioned — and you have to get unique login info every time you go. The info is printed on the receipt, but most of the time, the folks at the front counter don’t even give it to you unless you ask. Even then, it doesn’t always work.I really hope management can figure out this kink, because Tynan has the potential to be a go-to spot for Columbia Heights residents who work remotely. Until then, I’ll still visit during my downtime to enjoy coffee and lox bagels.

A gem of the neighborhood. My favorite spot to get away from Columbia Heights chaos. Breakfast sandwiches are the best in the area and the inside is a haven.

Favorite neighborhood cafe. The staff is the absolute best, always so friendly and helpful, amazing customer service. Food is great, love their sandwiches, which are made to order. We also get all of our coffee for home there, they grind it up quickly and you get a free house coffee when you buy a bag.
