Visited Umai Nori today. Was in DC on work and was craving sushi. Had a great experience overall. Sushi was top notch. Service was impeccable and got lot of positive vibes in the restaurant. Staff, chefs everyone seemed happy! Had spicy tuna roll and I think dragon roll and both were delicious. Had this quality sushi after a long time. Miso soup was like miso soup is but was piping hot which I love. Wasabi was so fresh. Overall awesome experience.

The food was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the high price. What made it worse was the unreasonable charges, they not only forced a mandatory tip but also added more than a 3% credit card fee on top of the bill. This kind of hidden fee feels deceptive and disrespectful to customers. I would not recommend this place.

Hands down, DC’s best sushi. Spectacular food, kind and extremely knowledgeable staff, and stellar ambiance. If you’re looking to have one of the best meals in downtown DC, look no further than Umai Nori!

The food arrived quickly, was fresh, and the service was good. The hand-rolled sushi was good, but the special rolls had too much sauce. Overall, it was okay.

Honest japanese restaurant. Try the nigiris!!!
Great spicy tuna roll and wonton soup. Casual vibe mostly bar seating but good service and fun time
I went for dinner and made a reservation. I was sat at the bar as the larger seatings upstairs had been taken by a big party. The music downstairs is a tad loud but understandable considering it also doubles as a bar. My waitress was polite and friendly. They made sure I was doing alright throughout the meal which was kind of them. I got some sort of shrimp tempura unagi roll, edamame, maguro nigiri, miso soup, and green tea (unfortunately I didn’t take photos 😅) Altogether the meal was $50ish for one person plus gratuity making it $62. The food was pretty good. The tempura roll was warm and the eel was good. Not a huge fan of the maguro myself, but I understand that for the local area it’s better than the average. I was only a little disappointed by the green tea and the edamame. The green tea came in a tea bag, understandable, just hoping for a little more than a regular cup of green tea. The edamame had some sort of chili salt on it? Odd choice of flavoring (personally not a huge fan). The atmosphere is good for younger or more adventurous couples downstairs and larger family seating up top. The food is pretty good (Sorry I’m pickier! 😅) . The waitresses are friendly and make sure you’re alright with your meal. Overall, great quality 👌🏼.
