Kevin is, without a doubt, an exceptional barista and a true gem. Watching him craft coffee is an art in itself—his hands are so skilled and precise that it almost feels like the coffee is being made by magic. You can instantly tell when it’s Kevin’s touch because it’s just on another level, and when the hand changes, it’s visibly different.

Beyond his remarkable barista skills, Kevin is incredibly knowledgeable. His understanding of the United States—its states, history, and culture—is impressive, and he even has a deep awareness of world geography and current events. Every conversation with him was insightful and inspiring. He has a unique ability to connect with customers, blending his cultural and historical knowledge with his charm.

Throughout the Fall 2024 semester, Kevin was the main reason I chose this coffee shop over Starbucks. The sandwiches were fantastic too, and the ladies who worked alongside Kevin were nothing short of amazing. They were the cutest, coolest, fastest, and most welcoming people, creating a wonderful atmosphere. Their teamwork with Kevin was phenomenal, and I truly believe they could accomplish wonders on their own if they ever decided to.

I ate countless sandwiches and enjoyed every single one, but Kevin was the driving force that made this place stand out. His passion, customer service, and mesmerizing knowledge made every visit memorable. I can’t recommend this spot enough—thanks to Kevin and the incredible team, it’s truly one of the best experiences around!

The Uptown Cafe appears closed for the summer. This listing should be updated.

Best most reasonably priced cafe in Foggy Bottom. Always great customer service and an amazing playlist.

This is a great place to go for a reasonably priced breakfast. Omelette and egg sandwiches are made to order right in front of you. My wife and I had breakfast the morning before at our hotel. It was $56. We had oatmeal and yogurt with some fruit and coffee. I think our breakfast was right around $16 at the Uptowner for the omelette and egg sandwich.

Great and family friendly place for breakfast as well as sandwiches all day long. We stayed at Fairmont hotel and walk down here every morning for breakfast and loved it. Great sandwiches, bagels just as should be. Made to order right in front of you, reasonable prices and very friendly staff. Thank you guys for taking care of us

Used this every day during a 4 night stay at the Fairmont next door. Excellent breakfast and an array of lovely sandwiches. All reasonably priced compared with the Fairmont prices!!! Really friendly and polite team. Would highly recommend.

They are always changing their closing hours. The door says 8 pm, but sometimes they are closed at 5 pm, other times they tell you they are closing at 6 pm. If you are an evening student hoping to drive to campus and grab a quick bite before class, don't rely on this place being open. Go directly to Carvings or the little food court where Chipotle is located.

we were at the Fairmont Hotel for 5 nights and we are not big breakfast people, in iew that the hotel charged 30USD per person every morning for a buffet we tried the Café for smaller things.. it was fresh tasty and delicious. except on weekends the place open early and is really convenient.. in an area with so little choice we felt lucky we found it! Bagels are yummy and eggs preparation too.

Best breakfast sandwich I've had in awhile. The scrambled egg was really scrambled, not a variation of a fried egg, (which is also an option), lots of choices for cheese and meat additions.Very pleasant, friendly, efficient staff. Seating for about 25 people. Lots of s ack foods available.

We used the Uptowner cafe several times. Each time we were greeted with a smile and friendly service. The sandwiches are made for you there and then and you have a choice of different types of breads, there is also a good selection of cakes and biscuits(cookies). There is also a well stocked salad bar which is self service along with a good display of crisps, nuts and large chioice of bottled water & flavoured drinks
