The Californian...need I say more? There is something about this sandwich that keeps me wanting more. From the soft flaky crescent, the swiss cheese, smoked turkey, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, tomato, and lettuce. It all seems to work perfectly together. The ingredients on this sandwich are not things I would ordinarily pull together on a sandwich, but this sandwich just works. You have to give it a try!!! Pickle on the side? Yes, please!!! They are pricey but consider the location of this restaurant. Of all the places in the area, this sandwich is the one that kept me coming back to this restaurant for lunch.

As the Director of Operations at Son Tours, Inc. We are always on the look out for great places to take students while on tour to get a great meal. We have been using Vie de France for many years and truly appreciate our relationship with them! The staff and management are friendly and prompt. Served buffet style with a great selection of tasty food for the kids, we can get in and out quickly, in order to keep an often tight schedule, while still enjoying great food!

Said “open” on Google and on their door sign. Turned out to be fake news - closed!

We kinda stumble upon this bakery and so glad we did! Had a great chicken salad sandwich. And couldn't resist the French pastries! Liked it so much we rcame back for lunch the next day. Prices are not bad for DC

Visited here when I was in DC with my boyfriend. We came here because it was in the same building as the parking garage so it was convenient. We started the morning of adventure with coffee from here which was good. Coffee is almost always good though. We came back for lunch after exploring and it was kind of dead. No customers were really there but it took forever to make two sandwiches. Watching the slow process was kind of awful. I had a grilled cheese that sounded really good based on the description and I had been looking forward to it all day but then I ate it and I was kind of disappointed. It was made with mozzarella and had no salt and basically no taste. My boyfriend had a turkey sandwich (forget the exact name) but it was sooo much better I wish I had gotten that. Overall the place isn't bad, but it's not a destination spot. It's just average. I would go somewhere new if I was in DC again.

I have fond memories of Vie de France although not this particular location in DC but I figured name recognition would prove to be helpful. That and it was close to where I was attending a meeting downtown and it was so damned cold I didn't want to stand outside waiting in line at a food truck. Well, I was mistaken, this place seems like a shell of its former glory and based on the interior although appeared clean it looked sparse and perhaps close to shutting down. The staff wasn't super friendly nor did they appear to be happy about the line of the lunch rush someone who was just behind me just left in frustration over the slowness of things, but given I'm not super familiar with this area I figured I better just try and wait. Disorganized chaos is what I would call it. The sandwich I did order was pretty good, I wasn't amazing but it fit the bill of what I needed to get some food in me so I could continue on with the day. Next time though when i'm out this way I'll probably try and find another place to eat.

After coming here for years before work, I think this review was long overdue. Let me get to the point, this place is expensive and overpriced but it's very convenient. If you work in the lenfant area where all the government agencies are located, this place is so convenient for breakfast on the go. $5 for a spinach and feta croissant and $3 for bagel and cream cheese. Other pastries are also in the same price range. It's expensive but I go like 2x a week because it's on my way to the office. Spend at your discretion. The lady is super nice though, and all the staff are always so nice! I've gotten lunch here once before and it's nice and quick. If you are looking for a quick and good lunch, this place is also good. Only 3 stars because I don't think they should be charging $5.50 for a croissant...

The staff here was very rude. Told me to leave and blew smoke in my face.

I stopped by Vie De France for a quick bite to eat when I was in DC on Friday. I ordered the (sweet) cream cheese-filled croissant and blueberry muffin, and they were both slightly better than average in terms of taste; however, they were drastically overpriced. These two items and a bottled water cost $9.22, which is appalling given the overall quality of these pastries. I would give this place another chance if I were nearby, but it certainly isn't one of my favorites.

Pretty good selection of sandwiches and various other lunch items. Well priced, not too long of a wait and well made.

I wish I could give this place less than one star. The food here is DISGUSTING and gave us food poisoning. Don't eat here. On top of their food being absolutely gross and not worth the money, they're drinks are equally poorly made. The manager is also incredibly rude and should not work in customer service. All around terrible restaurant - save yourself the trouble and avoid it. If stuck at L'Enfant and in need of table space, I would try Rice Bar - they have excellent food AND amazing customer service.

Within walking distance to Smithsonian and national Mall. On the other side of independence Avenue from the FAA building and just above a metro stop. Have eaten here a dozen times it is very comfortable big enough for a large group quite enough for discussions. Definitely get the French onion soup and a sandwich

Food was delicious but I couldn't enjoy my meal over the loud black people sitting at the bar. Glad we only stopped for a quick snack. I can't recommend coming here for the atmosphere.
