Overpriced. $22 for a simple turkey sandwich and $11 for a breakfast sandwich on stale bagel. Chips and drinks not included. The team is friendly and helpful. Love the neighborhood market atmosphere.

Sandwiches are delicious but multiple times I’ve ordered pick-up from their official website and the order never shows up in their system

Mr.Markus is ALWAYS helpful when I come to grab lunch. His customer service is superb ,and he doesn’t mind going the extra mile for you. He can turn your bad day into a great one with his amazing charm. He’s AMAZING!

I’ve learned from knowledgeable folks that there is an active rodent Infestation at this Wagshal’s and management is not taking it seriously. Employees are instructed to inspect prepared foods for indications that rodents have been feasting at it because it’s such a pervasive problem. Roaches are also actively infesting the store. Employees frequently handle food without gloves. Moldy or expired food is knowingly sold to customers. I understand there had been a recent change in management which has led to these lapses. I’d encourage customers to question management about this issue or inquire with the DC department if you are skeptical. I’d hate to see such revered institution falter under poor management.Owner says this is "hearsay" but doesn't deny the problems. Read the DC health inspections dating back to 2022 if you want confirmation - live roaches, flies, mouse droppings.

I normally stop here when I’m handling business nearby. I’ve been a few times and never had an issue. I always order a cold sandwich. My food is always fresh and taste pretty good. Most of the staff are very friendly. The prices are on the higher side but I guess it’s not horribly high.

Terrible service. Today I came in with my husband and ordered two sandwiches. One came out as the wrong order. The woman who took the order refused to fix the order, insisting I ordered “number 4” on the chicken sandwiches, which is not only incorrect, but there are no numbers on the menu. She just refused to do anything or fix it or even refund us. I’ve never heard of such a thing. Eventually she angrily threw away the sandwiches and we left, after which my lunch hour was over and we couldn’t even go out for a meal. What a terrible experience and hostile behavior, and luckily, not something I’ve ever encountered anywhere else. For $19 sandwiches, you expect to atleast get what you ordered. Skip this place.

Stay Away From Key Lime Pie. It was the worst I've ever tasted and I eat key lime pie wherever I go. It tasted nothing like key lime and had a terrible taste. I let the deli know but heard nothing back.

Great little gem of a restaurant. Best crab cake I ever had. In Maryland no less.

Not clean, I ordered a Turkey Sandwich. For two waters, a sandwich and empanada we spent $27. The food IS AWFUL! not fresh, soggy sandwich, and overall not satisfied.

Wagshal's is two stores in one. First, the deli and hot food, which is terrific and at a reasonable price point. Second, the wine and groceries, which are also terrific but are a little overpriced.

I live part time in DC, and recall today why I don't return to Wagshal's. The savory deli flavor may exist, but one must overlook the grime from the cashier station to the deli station where flies don't distract the sandwich making, keep an eye that one doesn't land on your lunch before the butcher paper is wrapped up. Post-covid lockdown days leaves zero excuse for the grimy conditions. Unfortunately DC lack many good options for real deli style grub, and as the only game in town (to many) Wagshal's needs a deep cleaning, or a visit from a health inspector. The poor hygiene on display is pretty shocking, especially considering the neighborhoods and the clientele who rely on their establishments. We won't be back.

I am a regular at Wagshal's. Had a great experince with their catering a while back, so decided to try them again. Called the catering department and was told I had to fill out an order online. I did so - a crudite platter, mini kabobs and some mini sandwiches. I received an email back about "roasted veggies" and a suggestion that I add roasted potatoes to my order. When I called to find out what was going on, the woman who'd responded to my email insisted that I'd ordered a full dinner. After going back and forth about that, she realized she had my order confused with another order from someone with the same first name as I have (a kind of famous person so I will not reveal her full name and ordering preferences :))) and insisted the minimum order was $2,000. I asked to speak to the manager, he checked my order, said he had my order and promised to email me back in the next five to ten minutes. He did not, so I called again an hour later. He originally insisted he had emailed me and while he said the minimum order did not have to be 2k, I would have to order a minimum of 24 of the appetizers I'd chosen. I gave up. This place is a nightmare. Avoid.

Loved tgeir pizza base. Tonight I ordered the Scott Circle , I don't normally like chicken on a pizza but this was just superb !!!! It had roasted pulled chicken, caramelized onions, green onion, mozzarella cheese and korean barbecue sauce. Last time I was here spring of 2019 we could eat inside but the restaurant area has been reduced since covid. DD had the Mac and cheese which she loved. Great supermarket and butchers here, bit pricy, but top quality. Staff friendly and efficient. Will be back soon.
