Ba Roos Ice Cream and Coffee

Ice cream is fantastic

Pretty typical, but good ice cream. Prices seemed fair for the beach (so a bit high compared to what you’d expect). I had peanut butter ripple which I thought was great. My boyfriend had pistachio ice cream which he said was good. I tried the pistachio ice cream and it tasted almost fruity. Service was good and the atmosphere was ok. The area around the shop is quite busy and loud. We spent a whole looking for parking.

Vegetarian options: The ice cream served here is vegetarian.

Parking: Very busy shopping center, especially around dinner time. Be prepared to spend 5-10 minutes waiting for someone to leave.

Kid-friendliness: Kid sizes are available.

Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp to the sidewalk platform which the shop is located on.

Lines are long for a reason! Graham cracker ice cream is worth the trip and the wait. The line moves fast and the ice cream is worth the hassle.

I hope managment sees this & takes it as feedback for their employees. Normally, we don’t leave negative reviews, if the establishment isn’t the right fit we simply make a mental note not to return. However, we come to Bethany Beach every year and Ba Roos is a staple spot for us that we have enjoyed for years.
This morning, I had ordered a bagel. I had asked the cashier if it would be okay if I only got half of a bagel since I wasn’t too hungry. The cashier assured me it would be no problem. The employee (addressed as Olivia by her coworkers) who prepared my bagel seemed confused by the “half bagel” order on the ticket so she asked the cashier for clarification. The cashier explained to the employee that I only wanted half of a bagel. The employee preparing my food proceeded to express her frustration by saying she wasn’t going to prepare only a half a bagel and that it was “stupid”.
This was right in front, right behind the checkout counter. Less than 3 feet away from where we sat. Every word could be heard within earshot. Now, I understand these employees are all young teenagers and therefore don’t always have a filter when expressing their feelings. As someone who comes from a customer service background, I also understand how frustrating it can be when you have to go out of your way to accommodate a customer with a specific request for an order. Totally understandable.
However, I would advise management maybe have a talk with their younger employees about how it’s okay to express your frustration with a customer, but possibly try to keep that kind of talk either in the kitchen or in the back room away from the customers. While I don’t personally feel asking for half a bagel was that outlandish, I know some customers are going to be annoying, that can’t be helped, and the employees have every right to be frustrated, but I wouldn’t recommend expressing those frustrations when the customer is sitting less than 3 feet away from you.
If they had just told me, “No, we can’t only give you half a bagel”, I would have completely understood. Being called “Stupid” just felt a little unnecessary.
We come to Bethany Beach every year because we have always admired how tight knit this small beach town community is, and this community is known for its kindness and hospitality which we have always felt, until today.

Great little spot! Wonderful selection between Smoothies, Ice Cream, bowls, parfaits and a plethora of different Coffees. Great indoor and some outdoor seating. Very cute, colorful and inviting atmosphere.

Walked into this place to try some ice cream on a hot day notice that the staff was training snickering about everybody and turns out they were actually talking about people and being very rude and unprofessional. While I am about to order something I canceled you know what I was about to order and left. We told the cashier about the co-workers that were making fun of people that were in line trying to just get something on a hot day their response was the manager had left for the day then acted like they did nothing wrong. We will never be returning to this location again it would advise anyone else not to go here but somewhere else that's better with customer service.

They have a wide variety of gluten free selections! The ice cream is fresh and has plenty of flavor. The staff members are warm, patient and enthusiastic! We love Ba Roos!

There was so many flavors to pick from and even a couple vegan ones too!! I would go back.

Absolutely the best ice cream around...taste home made and we have not found any better...not buying anymore ice-cream unless we go there...place was packed but the young ladies work hard and certainly earn their tips
