I don’t normally give reviews but I just have to give Shanty’s their props. I first wanna praise their customer service. EVERY TIME I go in there, I’m greeted with a warm smile and conversation from the owner down to her staff. It’s feels like the whole place is giving me a big bear hug! LOL! Then there’s the food. I pass by 2-3 other seafood places to get to Shanty’s. Everything is so fresh, well prepared and delicious. And their crabs are reasonably priced. I don’t feel like I’m being price gouged like other places. So I will always frequent Shanty’s. Thanks guys for being the best in the area!

My boyfriend suggested me to go here, he wouldn’t stop talking about it. He said there was a black guy that made some good behind shrimp deviled eggs. He said they were $2 a piece, I mean that sounds accurate. The first red flag, I didn’t see not one black person in there which was fine I had faith the other employees knew what they were doing. Around 3:00PM on a Sunday, when I asked if they had shrimp deviled eggs the guy(A) at the front wasn’t sure so he went in the back to ask the other employees. There was 3 of them in the back and the first person the only woman(B) in the kitchen spoke up and said with an attitude “NO”. Then one of the guys in the back guy(C) said instantly there’s some in prepped in the fridge, the woman said “no there’s not I’ll have to make some from strach”. They exchanged a few more words then the guy(C) walked to the front and told me they do I asked how long considering what I just heard and he said 5-10mins. Second red flag BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE he didn’t even look at me when he was talking he started bagging up someone else order before ringing me up to pay. He charged me $10 for 4 shrimp delived eggs. I was so hungry I ate them as soon as I got them in the car and EWE it was warm! It was over seasoned and it was MESSY! Jesus never again!

The lady that took my order and worked the cash register was very professional and pleasant. This was my first experience with the company and I was very disappointed. I ordered 1 lb of large shrimp and a dozen large crabs. The shrimp were good but the crabs were horrible. It was suppose to be a dozen of large crabs but ended up being a mixture of large and small/medium. I guess they ran out of large and just used what they had. Three of the crabs were rotten and not edible (one was crushed and two had holes in them and they smelled terrible). The majority of the crabs were missing their legs and claws. I was really hoping for a better experience based off of the all the good reviews. Maybe my experience would have been better if I had of ordered earlier in the day instead of 1 hour and 15 min before closing but I guess I will never know. If you still decide to give it a try I hope your experience is better than mine.

I'm so excited that Shanty Seafood Restaurant is so close to home!! I just discovered them recently ? Today we ordered a large bushel of steamed corn and steamed colossal shrimp to go with food for a family gathering. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS ? Can't wait to return and try out more items on their menu?

Before I comment about the food I’d like to first leave a compliment about the excellent customer service the Shanty Seafood provides. They are always so friendly on the phone and in person! That’s a big deal for me! We know each other by first name and there’s nothing better than having a personal relationship. The crabs and shrimp are always perfect and they always know what we personally like to order. I love, love, love, the Shanty Seaford!

Shanty is owned by a 5th generation waterman from Smith Island and anyone that knows Eastern Shore hard, soft and crab cakes doesnt need to know much more about the quality of the crabs you are about to eat here! They source their own crabs and use family recipes that make this not only a great-tasting experience but unique. I ordered the crab cake and one-pound of steamed shrimp special and two dozen hard crabs to go and it was all amazing. I thought I had every crab cake possible but their 200 year-old Smith family recipe was fantastic and unlike anything I have ever had - yes I asked the owner what was in it and there was no way he was giving up the secret. Really great and worth the money. I recommend you stop by here before you make it to the shore as I paid 2/3rds the price for high quality large crabs that were freshly caught the same day. Gotta try the soft-shells next time I am there. Door #3 in the larger market.

These are some of the best crabs I've had... ever! We started with a bushel that we took toBaltimore fora family feast (we live in Salisbury, and theShanty is 15 min from my husbands work). They were so good! Since then (last month) we now order weekly. One day we will dine inside and the all you can eat weekend deals. They have lots of fish and shellfish and loads of sides to choose and it's also the best pricing anywhere! The best part is their customer service. Never had a single issue. Everyone is polite and helpful and can make suggestions on what to get. They also answer any questions about the food prep, where they get their seafood (they have their own boats) and will sometimes open in their listed days off! You won't regret it. Crabs are heavy and delicious, every single time! I will be sure to add photos next time!
