Walking by on thanksgiving day I smelled something so delicious that I ended up circling back several times and finally giving up and committing to a salad and a glass of wine. I had a great time. The staff were fun, warm and welcoming, and the food was so delicious that I ended up coming back with a group for dinner the next day to taste more things.

If you’re in town, definitely plan a dinner here!

We went to Bramble & Brine on Thanksgiving and had the best meal we have had in a long time. From the moment we walked in we felt at home and loved the vibe. They had a special menu that incorporated one or 2 of the best dishes from each of their restaurant. We had the Atlantic Char with fingerlings,French green beans with a Beurre Blanc that was to die for. The short rib entree was yummy and very generous. I highly recommend the cheddar cheese biscuits too! The service was superb and very friendly to boot! Can't wait to go back.

This is our third Thanksgiving dinner at Bramble & Brine, and we were not disappointed. The service could not be friendlier and on top of things and the food... always delicious.

Just an overall outstanding meal - we were celebrating a special occasion and it was the perfect place for that!

I’m not sure why Bramble and Brine is not listed as THE restaurant in Lewes, DE. The food, service and ambience are spectacular. Highly recommend.

During our vacation in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, we discovered the charming town of Lewes and came across a truly special restaurant: Bramble & Brine at The Buttery. It’s not just a meal here — it’s an experience I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

🏡 Historic Charm & Unique Atmosphere

The restaurant is housed in a historic little building with so much character. From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by vintage décor and a nostalgic, carefully curated ambiance. One detail that really stood out to me was the painting of the “Princess of Sicily,” which I had to stop and admire after reading about it in reviews. The whole setting feels both intimate and meaningful — the kind of place where history and hospitality blend seamlessly.

🍽️ Exceptional Food

While the prices are on the higher side, the food makes it absolutely worth it. We ordered a few dishes recommended by the staff, and every one of them was outstanding:
• Crab Cake – hands down one of the best I’ve had in a long time: flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully cooked.
• French-style Oysters – fresh, elegant, and bursting with flavor.
• Lamb – tender, rich, and simply unforgettable.

Each plate showed great attention to detail and a level of craftsmanship that left us impressed.

🤝 Outstanding Service

The service here is just as memorable as the food. The staff took time to patiently walk us through the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and frequently checked in to make sure the dishes suited our taste. Their warmth and attentiveness elevated the entire dining experience.

🌈 Inclusive & Welcoming

Another highlight is the warm and inclusive atmosphere. The restaurant is proudly LGBTQ-friendly, which adds to the sense of openness and comfort. It feels like a space where everyone is welcome to enjoy a fine dining experience.

In short, Bramble & Brine is a gem — historic, beautifully decorated, inclusive, with top-notch service and food that rivals some of the best I’ve ever tried. When I return to Rehoboth Beach, this will be at the top of my list to visit again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely worth the experience!

My friend has a gluten allergy. She asked for gluten free options and our server seemed to not be interested or concerned and said we don't have gluten options. My friend asked if he could check with the chef and our server said we don't do that. So since there was nothing my friend could eat we had to leave.

Opentable Diner

We were very disappointed in our experience at Bramble and Brine! We used to visit the Buttery which was always a wonderful and elegant experience. The Buttery was our special occasion destination. We were at Bramble and Brine about 2 years ago, the menu was upscale and there were numerous selections making it difficult to make a decision. There were several menus on line but none were the current menu. We were given a paper menu which I do not like. Menus should be laminated or of high quality parchment. Then to top it off, at the top of the dinner menu it said SUPPER! We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We explained our disappointment to our server. Our server was very accommodating and gracious. It was not her fault that management has changed the vibe of the restaurant and menu. We decided to stay and select from the menu. We dine a lot and do not mind spending more for a quality and elegant meal! I realize that in this day and age upscale restaurants are not the norm. Unfortunately Bramble and Brine has lost us as one of their customers. The food was okay but the price was not considering what we ordered. We were looking forward to celebrating our anniversary there and were extremely disappointed. Needless to say we will not be dining at Bramble and Brine any more!

Nice ambiance and wonderful wait staff quiet too. Cheddar biscuits were piping hoy with a honey butter that complemented the savory! Entrees were very warm maybe too much so with delicious and flavorful mashed potatoes and fingerlings. The two entrees we ordered however were a disappointment. The chicken cordon bleu had a minimal amount of ham and guyere cheese and the breast meat was not terribly moist or flavorful. The breading on the chicken was thick and almost offensive for cordon bleu. The other diner had a crab cake which was okay. Both entrees had vegetables but those too were nothing to crow about. At $42 per entree I would have expected more. Not sure id go out of my way to return.

Baked Brie, chicken cordon bleu and scallops au gratin were all tasty. Brie was served without bread or crackers to spread on (but waiter found toast for us). Only 3 scallops! Chocolate dessert was cold, right out of fridge. So experience was fine, but not as we expected.

We've been coming here for years, but were disappointed yesterday. One of the restaurant's best features is the beautiful decor and ambiance, but the space has become dilapidated and feels unkempt: the tops of curtains are coming off the cornices, the bottoms of the curtains are beyond grimy, the gorgeous chandeliers have cobwebs on them, etc. The whole place looked like it could use a deep cleaning and an update. I was pretty tuned off before we even ordered. The food was ok; the service was indifferent. They forgot to bring the biscuits we had ordered. I doubt I'll seek out this place the next time we're in Delaware. But I'd be willing to give it another try if I read that they've had a refresh — it's such a beautiful space and is so well located — it would be a shame if the restaurant never recovered from what appears to be a current slump.

The experience at Bramble & Brine is nice, but nothing exceptional. The food has been consistent, but nothing really inspires and excels. Our server was attentive and helpful. All in all, no complaints, but at this price point, I would hope for some more of a wow factor.

Went for Sunday brunch. Not a huge menu but plenty to pick from. Everyone was very satisfied with their choices. Cocktails were incredible. Not rushed out which is nice.
